I don't think SJ is giving nearly enough. MacMillan alone would likely get Anthony this year. Then we're giving a PPG 18 year old and 2 other decent 19 year olds who'll likely play as 20s for an 18 year old with 1 goal, a 19 year old Euro who'll likely not play next for us year since we'd now have 2 high 1st round Euro picks with the VDs 1st round Euro pick coming too. Knotek alone would easily get the 1st Euro +. I'm sure there's a makeable blockbuster between the 2 teams, but that ain't it. I don't see them giving up Anthony for MacMillan straight up. Anthony's been a bit of a disapointment but he is only 17 and a potential 100 point guy. Potential is the KEY word....and youve been around this league long enough to know that when you deal young players for proven players you're always going to be giving up more potential talent. I honestly think Marcel would turn down a deal for MacMillan if it was Anthony straight up.

He's still a guy that I'd put high value on if I was a "seller".

Anthony's value is still high, but I dont think it would be someone that Marcel would want to have for MacMillan if it was a straight up trade. Halifax needs to acquire multiple young assists, putting all your eggs in Anthony's basket and hope he finally shakes that lazyness tag is a huge risk for Halifax.

Here is a blockbuster idea that would help both teams... Knotek(18) MacMillan(19) Bahm(19) and MacAskill(19) for Stoddard(18) Anthony(17) and Stich(19) plus VD's 1st Euro Stoddard at this point looks like a throw in and the Moose already have several 18 year old rookie forwards who have looked much better for the most part... Bety, Piette, Grant, O'Brien. No real value to the Moose and I don't know that they would want him. Stich doesn't really have value to the Moose unless he's moved to a team like CB after he's acquired. Having two early Euro picks would be nice and Anthony could be great but it wouldn't be enough. Not sure if I'd move MacMillan and any one of the other guys for that package as it seems very cheap in a Memorial Cup year with a pile of contenders. Knotek at 18 should have considerable value. MacAskill and Bahm have both played well this year and are "locks" to be in the league next year as well. If Saint John was to get MacMillan for this year and Knotek, MacAskill and Bahm for this year and next it would cost more. A package could be worked out but they're would be a mix of futures (Despres, Kirkpatrick), young players and more picks I would think.

I also dont know if Marcel is interested in him, as it was that draft that he made that statement about only drafting guys that really WANT to play in Halifax, and that he doesnt want to jump through hoops of crazy demands (Anthony/agent/dad) to beg someone to play here. Perhaps now that he's in the Q, he'd like to come to Halifax, and doesnt have that same demanding power. We could use a 17 year with star potential, provided the perceived attitude is not an issue. Marcel needs to be interested in Defensemen! I see alot of talk about forwards, however we are in desperate need of some D. As the Moose are loyal to returning guys, the D for next year look like S. MacDonald O'Connor MacAskill A. MacDonald Matheson Greer Ideally we should try for a young, star-potential defenseman, or two. Agree?

IMO Knotek has more value then MacMillan... Only problem there is that he takes up a Euro spot while MacMillan doesn't take a Euro obviously but he's not going to take a 20 spot either so anybody can add him ... more of a market for this type of player.

Knotek is only 18, he'll be back in Q next year, while Macmillan will probably be playing pro in ECHL probably.

Yeah if Knotek was from Bedford he would have much more value than MacMillan because he would be in the Q for 1.5 years rather than 0.5 years. But any contender adding Knotek would also have to dump their current euro, which means Halifax would end up getting less. But, there are a couple teams who he would be a nice fit in. Look at Shawi and Rimouski. Both have 1 very good euro and 1 average/below average euro. If Halifax makes a deal with Rimouski, im sure the Oceanic would throw Petracek into the deal with relativly little value. Same goes for Shawi and Schlumpf, although Shawi doesnt really need more offense. The only team I see Knotek as a good fit is Rimouski.

But then you would have Matheson and Greer as healthy scratches and we all know how much you would hate that But in all seriousness, I think Halifax cant be picky with position. The Mooseheads need young players both up front and on defense.

I wish Moncton would get Knotek, they only have 1 Euro (Famin) but price is probably too high for him....

I wish Moncton would get Knotek, they only have 1 Euro (Famin) but price is probably too high for him.... The problem with trading Knotek is still two-fold though. 1) any team trading for him would need to dump their own euro 2) halifax would likely want the other teams euro pick back in the deal For Moncton #1 isnt a problem as Voinov hasnt reported. But I dont think acquiring Moncton's euro pick is of great value to Halifax.

I think it's difficult right now to predict a potential package for MacMillan. A lot of mediocre teams are on the bubble. Unsure if at Christmas time they will want to stand pat, buy or sell. Once Christmas nears and team's figure out their stance moving forward we'll get a better picture of the market constraints.
What I mean by that is, supply and demand. Last year there wasn't many options for an offensive addition, so the Moose and others paid DEARLY. If the conditions are similar this year (not a lot of teams are sellers), we COULD get a fortune. If there is a fire sale (which I highly doubt) than we might not get a lot of comfortable offers.
What we, as Moose fans have working for us is the Q hosting the Memorial cup. With two spots available for the Memorial cup this season, you'll see lots of teams feeling close to putting themselves into that top echolon to grab one of two births. Where any other year, just having the one opportunity.
Regardless of what happens, it should be an interesting trading period nonetheless.

I think there may be more players on the market this year but that there also looks like there a lots of team in contention this year as well. I think several contenders combined with it being a Memorial Cup year should result in fairly high prices.
Rim is the obvious team going for it but Shaw, Moncton, Drumm, Quebec, CB and Saint John I think have all waived the contender flag this year in one way or another and that seems to be more teams then usual at this point in the year. Those are teams that are ready to contend with varying degrees and are at least teams that I would be surprised to see sell any players.
I think it will be interesting to see what Victo, Montreal and Ryn do up until the trade period and which way they lean. Victo can score but needs help keeping the puck out and Montreal keeps it out but needs the better part of a second line. Ryn is sort of more in the middle. For some reason I don't see Victo selling and after picking up Esposito and it being their first year I don't see Montreal selling (they seem like a team that would be a good fit for Knotek... if the Moose were to ever trade him. Hell send Cheremetiev along as well and give them more then just a top line). But I could see Ryn selling with a big defensive asset in Bourdon and a few forwards like Desjardins, Macenauer and Giguere. Ryn is currently in 7th so it will be interesting.
Who knows what Bathurst will do besides make 8 or 9 trades. If they sell, they have good 20s for teams in that market but not much in the way of depth.
Chi has been playing better after a horrible start and I could see them look to push up the standings. What's the story on Bolduc and Messier? They have some interesting talent is they decided to sell.
Lewiston has looked horrible as of late I can't see them having dreams of moving up the standings. It will be interesting to see if they sell. Outside of 19 year olds Ward and Cusack they don't have much in the way of vets and both of them could be back next year. Would they move Paquette?
Baie Commeau you would think has to sell. Petit and Ouimet would both be good additions for teams looking for 20 years old. Lessard is there other 20 and has value as well. If I was a contender and had room to improve my 20 year olds I'd see a leader like Ouimet as an awesome addition on D. Cousineau is having a bad year but that's mostly to do I would think with the team he is playing on and may be the top goalie on the market.
Gatineau has been horrible lately and it will be interesting to see what a coaching change does by you would think they'll sell their vets this year. Byron will likely be a target for contenders with guys like Quesnel and Mallette gaining interest as well.
Val D'or has been a big failure so far this year and at this point most of their vets are not looking like prize additions at this point. They have some good 18 year olds and will likely look to make a couple moves to turn it around next year.
