But that's "what ifs". What if the Moose took those fights as motivation and lead the comeback... that's a risk Moncton and Lane is taking... giving the other team motivation. What if with Lane in the box O'Connor, Louis-Seize, Bahm, Bona... starting with the dirty hits and going after Moncton's young skill when there's nothing Lane can do... Every decision can have a negative side and worst case scenarios. Then guys like Boyle and Roski would step up on the Moncton side .... it affects Halifax more to have Pender and O'Connor in the box than it does Moncton to have Lane and Boyle in the box. Actually after watching Halifax's defense for the last 2 years I'd have to say that in a O'Connor vs Lane or Pender vs Lane matchup that Halifax would benefit more from the tradeoff of having Lane in the box than vice versa ;D The worst part is add Bodnarchuk and Monast and that's the same defense they tried to make a run with last year.

What about Lessard, Sill, Brannon, Savard ? Roski probably wouldn't even be in the lineup if Lane is.

I agree that Pender vs. Boyle is a good tradeoff for Moncton... but I'm not so sure about O'Connor vs. Boyle. Maybe I don't see enough of O'Connor (probably seen him a dozen times over the years... and up until this year, he was playing more sporadically), but IMO Boyle has him beat on upper body strength and positioning. Boyle is surprisingly good a pressuring opposing forwards in the Cats end without sacrificing much positionally. Only saving grace is by having O'Connor in the box, the Moose lose a second pairing dman... while Boyle is on the third Moncton pairing... but that's more testament to overall skill level of both teams.

And if they're all low skill then needing other players to respond from Moncton is even a worst case since apparently they wouldn't be missed by Halifax.

I think Moncton would miss Lessard, Sill, Brannon or Savard much more than they would miss Roski - and yes, good point on Roski not being in the lineup if Lane is (assuming no injuries, of course)
