I yell at the refs (sometimes warranted, most times not LOL) Cheer for a big hit and come out of my seat and I have had no problems in 4 years of being a season ticket holder. I do agree that it could be much louder. Its in the fans, look at the MEM Cup that was awesome. So it is possible.

Once they got going the locals found that it was ok to DO SOMETHING !!!!! Ok that was all in fun but I had to say it ;D ;D ;D

I really get tired of the "our rink is quiet" debate every year....
I don't scream like a rabid idiot from faecoff to final horn...but I do cheer big hits, good plays, and when the team is behind a goal or whatever....
Does anyone remember game 7 against Quebec...
but seriously if you think the rink is to quiet...YOU CHEER and scream and do whatever floats your boat...maybe you will inspire a few people around you...if not stop whining on the internet...

I have to admit that I used to think that the Coliseum was a quiet rink, but honestly, after having been around a couple more, I tend to disagree.
I have been to games to Bathurst and Saint John last year, as well as Gatineau and Montreal this year, and I can honestly say that Moncton shouldn't really envy anyone as far as atmosphere goes. I'm starting to think that this is more a "the grass is greener on the other side" kinda thing. I admit it was crappy at the start of the 2000 years, but it's gotten very respectable, even last year with a losing team.
And finally, lets face it, it will always be difficult to have a great atmosphere in the first half of the season when the rink as almost half empty on average. Reason why I would be hesitant to have the Wildcats play in a 10 000 seat rink, wouldn't it sound dead after the novelty effect wore off and the same core of fans remained?

As a soccer fan and someone who has read a lot about supporter culture abroad, my jaw dropped at your "rabid idiot" comment... that's like saying people who eat using chopsticks are backwards and primitive. Game 7 against Quebec... easily the most memorable game in team history IMO... but the place was a morgue until Girard tied it up halfway through the 3rd... I remember the ushers in some sections walking down the aisles before the game, sheepishly motioning to people to start making noise to no avail, and Lavergne on the ice having to ask the fans to wake up. Exciting game, but hardly an example that the fan base is capable of getting behind its team when their backs are against the wall. Sorry for contributing to your least favourite topic, I'm sure we'll all keep you in mind before posting from now on.

First of all my condolences on your being a soccer fan...Soccer is what I put on when I would like to take a nap... 15 minutes of kicking a ball around to get one of your 4 scoring chances in the game. Usually interrupted a gazillion times by balls kicked out of bounds and grown men flopping everytime a player brushes against them....
Anyone who goes to a hockey game and screams from the opening faceoff to the final horn is a rabid idiot. The people who sit there yelling shoot on every powerplay are rabid idiots...My memory of game 7...and maybe I was in a vocal section...was a loud exciting crowd, I remember the glass shaking from crowd cheering at the end.
I have no desire to model any behaviour after European soccer fans...I don't feel we need riots at the rink before the game.
Thank you for keeping me in mind from now on....

I'm not a soccer fan either but to make some of those statements is pretty stereotypical, not all games and plays are like that, besides, there has to be a reason why soccer much larger than hockey will ever be. Soccer is huge worldwide, hockey is not, that has to have some merit. To call an excited fan that cheers all game an idiot is pretty low. I see children on their feet yelling, screaming and cheering ALL game long....are they these idiots that you speak of? And finally, if these people that cheer all game insult you then I have just one word of advice, do NOT under any circumstances go to an NFL game! You'll be very annoyed.

Soccer is popular because it's cheap to play and very primitive. You actually need ice to play hockey which only exists 50% of the time for 25% of the world's population.

Actually my statements are not stereotypical they are fact. Hockey is huge worldwide also in countries where people grow up playing hockey...soccer is spreading because it is cheap to play and people from countries where soccer is a grassroots sport migrate and bring there passion for the game with them. If you don't know who I am referring to when I talk about rabid idiots then maybe you are one. I have been to many NFL games...explain to me why I wouldn't want to go to one... And try explaining it to me without comparing apples and oranges...

When these soccer player brush up against each other they flop everytime? I agree they they can be dramatic from time to time but everytime? Not fact. I thought you'd be offended by an NFL game because most, if not pretty much all fans there do not even sit down throughout the games, they cheer the entire game from start to finish, or at least the many that I've been to. Why would you think that I am a "rabid idiot"? Because I don't agree with you? Pretty small minded IMO.

I should be a good Canadian and ditch the soccer, in favour of a riveting 40 minutes of beer and razor commercials per hour with 20 minutes of hockey squeezed in.... pick a favourite NHL team, and be loyal to them while 90% of the roster changes each year... and occasionally spend the average working class Canadian's one-week paycheque on a pair of tickets, arena food and a beer... while not forgetting to record the game so I don't miss Don Cherry's weekly Kingstoner worship and political indoctrination when I get home. Soccer.... what was I thinking?

Okay now that you have had your rant lets look at it...so you agree that there are not very many scoring chances in soccer. You agree that there is a lot of diving and flopping in soccer. You don't understand hyperbole. Now can you explain to me why in the NFL the fans are cheering so much? Apples and oranges....
