I didn't really feel like starting another thread so I'll pull off a good double post. Riopel is the best Cats goalie since Tordjman right? Well seems like Tordjman was player of the week as well.
The American Hockey League announced today that San Antonio Rampage goaltender Josh Tordjman has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Dec. 7, 2008. Tordjman was 3-0-0 with two shutouts in three starts last week, stopping 69 of 72 shots (1.00, .958) to get the Rampage back in the win column.

Just a question I'm assuming you meant happen as oppose to happy so in that case, our back up goalie is a 16 year old rookie. He has pretty good stats when considering his age and experience(5 games, .928 save% and a 2.77 GAA) He's looked shaky at times but nothing I wouldn't expect from a 16 year old rookie. If Riopel were to get hurt I believe he would even elevate his play with the chance to put together a few starts in a row and he would probably be more comfortable in net. All in all though, Riopel has been our MVP and if you replaced him with any other goalie in the league our record would be worse in my opinion.

The biggest difference about Riopel this year is that he isn't giving up soft goals ... he is making the saves he is supposed to ... and several that he is not supposed to ... but he isn't often spectacular .. just always there. He stays very focussed throughout the game. One of the biggest weknesses on Domingue right now ... and being 16 it is expected ... is his focus. You will see him give up goals that are mainly due to a letdown in focus. He is in a very good position to learn from a guy that is really getting the job done this year ... and Bergevin-Jean also has to be applauded for the solid play from both goaltenders.

I find Domingue looks like he is really focussing on his technique - this will help him in the long run I think, but right now, there are times where he appears awkward and it appears as though he is focussing more on proper positioning than he is on finding the puck and stopping it ... reminds me a bit of a young Crawford.
