RKI is in negotiations with the LA Kings to get Voinov here after Xmas. This comes from a team official.

What kind of negatiations could a CHL team do to bring a player down a level?
If he is progressing at a respectable pace which I believe he is, what benefit would CHL do for him. $$$, I'm sure there is not really a significant about of money that would be worth offering
So what could you do?

I am assuming the Cats gave them permission. But why wouldn't we be doing that? If Voinov were to come that could be a big jump for our D at NO cost. Not sure what to think of this.

Moncton must have gave RKI permission. I am assumming that Moncton feels comfortable with the players they have on their blue line. The only real thing RKI can offer that Moncton can't is a garanteed spot in the memorial cup. I wonder what would be compensation for Voinov going back to Moncton.
If I was Moncton I would try to land RKI 1 round pick in 2010 or 2011 or both! They should be quite high since RKI will have to rebuild after this season. A possible scenario like what might happen with Baie Comeau this year.
Again, I would support what Flynn decides to do.

If the Cats are checking into Voynov's availability from the Kings, they should also check into the availability of Jason Demers from the Sharks - he appears to be doing quite well in the AHL, however there was a rumour in Quebec that Rimouski was interested in acquiring his services for a draft pick from Victoriaville. Demers would probably be the top d-man in the league if he were ever to return.

I'm not expecting the Voynov rumour to amount to anything....if they wanted him in the Q, he'd be here by now. Not that I'd complain if he did show up....big boost to the team without costing any assets.

I think Demers can come back, he was traded as a 17 year old which should make him eligible to return as a 20 to his original team ...

I would love to get voynov or Demers, but logically neither of them has anything to gain coming here from the AHL. If they were ECHL then I see the benefit.

Not even considering how much their AHL salary will be that Moncton will have to pick up, LA would be insane to have the guy take 2 steps back in his development. It goes against coaching principles. Coaches should want their players to go up as they develop. Not down was they get better.
