So if I'm understanding correctly, the guy's got a tryout with Omsk.... does that necessarily mean he's 100% not coming to North America? He's still only 18 - maybe it'll turn out that Canadian major junior is better for him at this stage of his development, than the KHL would be. With Europeans, you never know till training camp comes and you either see them or don't see them. Training camp is the key. It doesn't even matter if the kid said yes or no prior to the camp. It is often a case of action speaking louder than words.

However there was also a mention that the Eagles had an agreement to bring back McCarron no matter what.

What if his Russian team wants to keep him on a lower team to get ice time and be available to the big team? It'll be interesting to see how this now unfolds.

Big Liberal R we ? It's not like he had top players from last year rated higher. We constantly see 16 and 17's beat out 19yr old 4th liners because of their age and potential. If we keep guys like Maccarron and Deveaux over guys like Jodoin and Cuzner then that doesn't say much for the job our scouts did this year because neither of the returnees has much chance of playing at 20 and those drafted kids could be core players in 12 months time. Even though, in my opinion, the choice is a no-brainer to go with the younger kids on the 4th line we've seen cases in the past where even the coach wasn't sure on who to keep. Brendan MacDonald was once one of the first cuts only to be brought back around the end.
