Jack you seem to know alot about the eagles and players around the league. It is a pleasure chatting with sound knowledgable hockey fans. I really like Tesnik but I have to agree with you again. I think we should keep Stinz over him. I am alittle bias though liking Tesnik as he is from my hometown. I was also a huge JC Sawyer fan. (Don't bash me!! haha) PS I have followed these boards for a few years but just joined. Thanks medic. Welcome aboard. It's always great to see more people interested in chatting about the league. And don't worry, I was a Sawyer fan as well. I'll never understand the hate generated by such a talented player, even if it took a little while for him to reach that potential. Alot of the hate was generated through the love Pascal had for him! Pascal invested a lot of time and got a great product at 20 and you can't fault him for that but his previous seasons is now closed for discussion.

Offensive d-men are the players that tend to generate the most of the love/hate discussions. Because they tend to make high risk, high reward plays, they will make more obvious mistakes but the talented ones usually make up for it with their offense. Over the years, in Moncton, we seen players like Vigneault, Sanford and Welton raked over the coals then tarred and feathered for every mistake, yet those same posters never said a word when those players had a 3 point night to help the team win by one goal.

How often did Welton ever have a three point night for the Cats? He got raked over the coals because for all the chances he took, he still didn't generate a lot of offense - never lived up to the offensive expectations placed on him when we traded for him after his 17 year old season with the Remparts.

Welton wasn't the best example for my point, but part of the hate-on for him right off the bat was the price the Cats paid for him (not his fault).

Welton turned out to be a very good deal for the Cats. 2 1/2 very good years for the price of a half season rental. ...like Sanford he seemed to get a lot of heat for every small mistake but not enough love for the good plays.

Acting like a girl is posting "hahaha" 3 times in a 4 line post and complaining about me putting down new posters because you posted a rediculous comment like: "Yeah, Tesink was great. His 3 points totally helped us down the stretch" which was dripping of sarcasm even though there was not one poster here complaining about his play last season. You obviously lack reading and comprehension skills, as most new posters who don't last seem to. I never said you making a mistake on a trade was garbage. What is garbage is your opinion that the player sucked. Notice the difference? Because it's a pretty big one. I don't take this board seriously at all. You're the one making a foolish comment with no basis or logic behind it. What exactly were your expectations of Tesink upon his arrival? Because I doubt you even heard of him before he put an Eagle jersey on. Yet you're putting him down when he came here and played very well. If you don't want to start arguments then don't post stupid shit. And saying Tesink sucked last year on the basis that he only put up 3 points is pretty stupid. So, you're definition of "acting like a girl" on a public message board is based on me laughing at a post which I felt was slightly funny. That's odd. I actually don't lack reading or comprehension skills. In fact, I have a minor degree in English. Those in glass houses? My expectations of Tesink was that he'd be a big body with zero offense and guess what.....I was right!!!! Also, I had heard of him before coming to CB. My saying that Tesink sucked because he only put up 3 points is subject to my opinion and saying someone's opinion is stupid is actually more stupid that claiming the aforementioned opinion is, in fact, stupid. So the player lived up to your expectations, exceeded almost everyone elses, yet you think an opinion that he sucked is normal and deserved. Makes perfect sense

Makes perfect sense I'm sure there are other people who share my opinion. Maybe they're just not willing to speak up. Also, why does an opinion have to make sense to everyone? JB, I'm starting to honestly think that you don't even know the meaning of the word. At this point, we're pretty much beating a deadhorse. In the future, if I express an OPINION, maybe you can not be so confrontational, regardless of what the basis of my opinion is. For example, let's say hypothetically that I don't like Meilleur as captain over MacNeil because Meilleur is shorter. That opinion is, in my OPINION, stupid. Nevertheless, its just an opinion.

Voicing your opinons and people agreeing/disagreeing and dicussing them . Just leave it be.

Listen dude, saying something like "My saying that Tesink sucked because he only put up 3 points is subject to my opinion and saying someone's opinion is stupid is actually more stupid that claiming the aforementioned opinion is, in fact, stupid." is a completely garbage opinion. It's like saying I'm as qualified as a Mozart scholar in Mozart analysis because it's just my opinion. I don't know sweet fuck all about Mozart, I probably don't much like him, but to try and say that "Mozart sucks because its my opinion" is about the dumbest thing I could say... especially if I would dare to diminish the opinion of said scholar by calling it merely opinion. There's opinion out there, and there's fact as well. And I know that hockey analysis is a lot different than talking Mozart n shit, but I sincerely question your opinion on trashing Tesink's game and his effectiveness for the Eagles last year down the stretch. He went a little cold there playing forward in Slaney's absence late in the playoffs... but to actually have the audacity to say he stunk for us because he only had 3 goals or whatever when he consistently held the line, made safe plays, hit hard and won battles is a suspect opinion. Tesink was no liability and he wanted to be here an dplay hard which is something Malka didn't. Kudos on Jack for calling you out on it (although you're probably best ignored.) anyway, it's all dirty laundry and we're looking forward to this new season, but I'm also as always amused by the Brodeur hatred spewed amongst these parts. you might be able to hit anybody and destroy them, but if you can't play the game you won't go anywhere. Brodeur is a good skater with great sense and he's 6'6 with a long stick to boot. While some say he's letting guys in the zone, he's actually most often angling the play towards the corner and directing teammates on how to back him up. He's actually a pretty quiet leader and probably one of the smartest players on the team for this season. Sure, everybody hopes he got stronger and starts playing a little more entertaining hockey game in terms of physicality, but one of the best defencemen who's ever lived hardly hits anybody (not that I'm comparing Matt to Lidstrom or anything, just saying that physicality can be overrated) Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to see Brodeur wear a letter this year ay all.

Who said they hated Brodeur ? All I said was that if you can't lift 125 lbs then you are below average strenght wise for the Q and way below the level that's needed to play Pro ! I never / ever said that because he's 6'6" .....215 lbs that he should be the meanest psycho we ever had .............he should be stronger.....that's all I meant !

my apologies Hal. I tend to get a little reactionary when it comes to Brodeur or Haddad, two guys that were constantly ridiculed and name-called in my section the past couple seasons despite their obvious value.

Yes, I have a degree and English and YES, one opinion is as valid as the next. Are you even serious? How are you defining an opinion, because, I seriously question your intelligence right now. And yes, kudos for JB on calling me out. Also, I would have prefered to be ignored in regards to this particular opinion. Also, saying that Mozart sucked, in your opinion, has nothing to do whether or not you're a Mozart scholar or not. It's just your personal view or attitude toward's his works. And now back on track: I love Brodeur's shot. I wish he'd shoot more though.

...and this is why I never post anymore.
in a nutshell, all I meant to say was that some things said on a message board are stupid and some things aren't...such as saying Tesnik was bad because he didn't score. It'd be nice if everybody on every team scored 20+ I guess, even the 6'4, 230lb guys playing 3r d pair defence!
sure, I guess thats your opinion, but if it can't be debated/refuted because it's just an opinion then what's the point of being on a public messageboard at all?
and my kid woke up 15 minutes ago and here I am arguing semantics while she watches the Rogers Cup eating grapes...yet another reason why I don't post. sheesh.
