I had to chuckle when I read this in the Boston Globe, kind of brought back memories and confirmed that Marchand still needs some work.
Loss of discipline by Brad Marchand in the third period (two minor penalties, then a 10-minute misconduct). Could have been whistled for a third when he elbowed Mike Grier while coming off the ice. Sabres could have gotten back in the game by scoring a power-play goal. Marchand's game centers on emotion and on-the-edge play, but he has to find the right balance.

A 21 year old in the NHL still needing work? Who'd of thunk it? You didn't really think that through did you.. How many times throughout the years have you seen Marchand do the same thing, taking bad penalties and lacking discipline. I've watched the kid since he was a kid and just found it amusing.

He plays on the edge...shit happens. He is 21, playing in the NHL, he isnt perfect, people are obsessed with the kid. Even when he was 15 in Midget, people said he wouldn't make it to the Q with his attitude and penchant for stupid penalties...thats part of his game, he is a pissant and gets on peoples nerves and I dont think Boston minds too much.

Geez the guy is only 21 and at 21, players still have alot to learn and of course needs some work. Not many players, if any, can say they are the same player at 29, for example, as there were as a 21 year old, it's called experience and seasoning.

Shit don't get your panties in a knot. Heh, I've never been hard on Marchand but I can assure you Boston does give a shit. You think a message wasn't sent when they brought up Bodnarchuk to Providence at the end of his final junior season but didn't call Marchand up ?

Of course it sent a message: They needed a defenceman at the end of the bench and not a forward.

They sent the same message last night when they didn't dress him. If he wants to play he has to learn not to take selfish penalties and to play more disciplined , it's as simple as that.
