Chris sure didn't. Haha! There's got to be more to this deal. I see the 2016 pick going back for a player or 2.

Looking back it's no wonder the league changed the rules on these deals.
You might as well say the Eagles got Leveille at 17, Deschamps at 18, a top 5 pick in Dubois, O'Leary with the 14th pick who presents 3 possible outcomes as A) A top forward B) Trade bait from a team he may report to or C) 19th pick in 2015 and there's still Chicoutimi's 2015 1st round pick which should be mid-late in the 1st in 2015 more then likely.
Interesting to see if this looks just as lop sided in 2 years when the Eagles could be peaking at the same time as Roy's Sags.

Just an insane return for the kid
5th overall (Dubois who is a top 3 offensive talent in the draft) 2 1sts (one of which is Mike O'Leary who may report, a top ranked forward) Leveille 2nd round pick
Even if he reaches superstar level, I'm not sure I would trade that much for him.
Another great trade was the Carrier trade, the first we got from them has potential to be a top 5 pick next year + we got Gauthier for possibly 2 and a half years.

Funniest thing about that entire 'saga'.... he doesn't even look like he'll be the best player from that draft.

Looking back the Eagles brass made a great decision in drafting Roy. Did not seem too great at the time when he was refusing to play here but undoubtedly the returns for him plus compensation are paying dividends. Kind of glad he did refuse to play here the more I think of it. He deserves an applause next time he plays in CB instead of a boo.

It was definitely a learning experience with all the new rules to compensate teams that pick an MIA player. Maybe a "Thank you Roy" chant similar to the "Thank you Kessel" chants in Boston when Toronto is in town.

You guys got a better return for Roy then BC got for MacKinnon. When you look at the skill set of the 2 players that makes it all the more laughable. I think you guys should do the same as the Moose though and just make Dumont full time GM and higher a full time coach. He's done an unbelievable job at GM.

Fully agree with statsmans assessment of Dumont. I believe he is doing an excellent job as the GM, but Ifeel his coaching skills leave something to be desired. Case in point, his handling of the goaltending situation last year and the playoff debacle. Not only were the Eagles clearly outplayed in the playoffs, they were badly outcoached.

What is the final tally of the Roy trade and MacKinnon trade? BCs return from the MacKinnon trade all said and done. Carl Gelinas Francis Turnide Dominic Poulin Alexis Vanier Nick Meloche CBS return so far from drafting Roy. Look Leveille Jonathan Deschamp Pierre-Luc Dubois Mike O'Leary (which can become 2015 18 or 19th pick) 1st round pick in 2015. Right now the play off games that BC has got to play from these players might be the real test to who really faired better. Because of the MacKinnon trade they made it to the league final 2 years in a row. Right now CBs meter is running.
