What's the thought on the back-up job with the recent trade for a goaltender? It's just a depth move IMO...... Lafleur will be off the the Rangers camp, and the Rocket must have felt the need to have a bit more to depend on then rookies that were in camp. Mosher will be the back up this season. IMO

We'll ya never no what can happen I think he is gonna make Mosher take Notice.. besides Moshers games last year weren't the best ones ever :S He was 16, came at mid season and only played a handfull of games......and if i remember correctly, he played against some tough apponents. VD Lewy for examples. Mosher hopefully wil get some games upder his belt this season, and IF Lafleur does not return next season, he should be our tender.........unless things dont turn out as they are expected.

Well if Jean would start playing Mosher more and not giving him only a couple of starts again tough teams he would have a chance to get more games in and def become a solid backup. But thats what the problem is. Antoine Lafeur last year was the same. Mior was shit. In comes Lafleur who only played one game before and takes the job, out goes the sieve (Mior) in comes Mosher.
But I just don't think Mosher is ready for the backup job yet, until Yanick Jean starts to play him more and more.

Its a catch-22...you want him to play but you dont think hes ready to be the back up lol Mosher will get 15 games this year..which isnt bad...he will be a much better goalie at xmas than he is now and he will be even better in April than he will be xmas...all he needs is some game action...

Nobody thought Lafleur was a capable back up 2 seasons ago, even this time last year....and look where the kid is now. I would say Mosher will be improved over last year, and as Score said, he was thrown in against some good teams last year, I'm sure with some more playing time this year he'll be a decent tender.
I did like watching Gelinas the other night and he had a great game....but I believe Mosher will be the goalie here for the season.

I have not seen enough of either to make any kind of an informed guess as to who Will be the back up.
I liked what I saw of Gelinas the other night.
It will be interesting to see what Micalef adds as a former goalie to the development of either or both of Mosher and Gelinas.

If Gelinas, given the chance, continues to play like he did against Halifax, management will have a tough decision to make, once Lafleur returns from camp.
While I agree that Mosher should be given development time, I'm also of the opinion that Gelinas could become very valuable to the Rocket, in the first half of the season. Mosher could gain more by playing Jr A, where he would get valuable playing time, as opposed to sitting on the bench. Gelinas could be used as trade at Xmas, and Mosher could come up for the 2nd half of the season.
Of course, this all depends on how Gelinas plays while Lafleur is away.
