With about 36 Hours until the beginning of the 2nd round, I figured we could make some bold, or less bold, predictions for the 2015 season to pass the time. Here's my top 5 predictions that you can take to the bank, or not...
1) Weegar won't turn pro, leading our 20's to be Gadoury, Ryan, and Weegar. Ciampini and Hardie should be moveable at the draft.
2) No rebuild - Mooseheads will be competitive again next season, Fucale and Co. will not be moved.
3) Fortier will be in the top 6 out of camp. (Bonus) Ehlers - Gadoury - Fortier
4) Cam will make a move for a veteran defenceman to shore up the backend.
5) A top American prospect will be drafted, Twitter drama will ensue, with him eventually commiting to go to the USNTDP reporting to the Seadogs Mooseheads.

Mooseheads will win the Memorial Cup in 2014. Bobby Smith will sell the team and it will be moved to Sept Iles for the 2014-15 season, as the team will have nothing else to shoot for in Halifax. The new Sept Iles team will be called the Islanders, and Charlottetown will be forced by the QMJHL to rename themselves the "English Islanders" With the Mooseheads out of the picture, The Rainmen will average 10,595 for the next three seasons, prompting the city to build a 16,000 seat arena by flattening the east half of Citadel Hill. The town clock will be moved to Sackville in the Superstore parking lot next to the big Canadian flag. The new arena will be in place for the 2018/19 year, and after three failed seasons in the Barclays center, the New York Islanders will be moved to Halifax to become the Halifax Explosion (Much to the delight of MikeC). The Explosion will beat the Leafs in their season opener, but because they used to be the Islanders, and now have Dominique Ducharme as their coach, will only win 12 games that season, prompting Porkchop to purchase the www.halifaxmooseheads.ca domain name and type in 54 point bold font "I TOLD YOU SO".

I think we will try and get a 1st round pick for this Summers draft. Maybe trading Fucale at the draft to the Memorial Cup host.

I'm not totally convinced we'll go full on rebuild next year either. Conventional thinking would suggest, after the last 3 seasons, we have no choice. But, not necessarily the case. We'll have some solid pieces coming back....including Falkenham. IF Weegar comes back (which I doubt he does), that could really make things interesting. Ehlers being this good, and Gadoury falling into our laps for free.....IMO, changes the outlook for next year. I don't expect a ton of action from Cam at the draft tbh. Moves are always made, you're always looking for picks. But I have a hard time seeing Fucale being moved in the summer (if at all). I think you'll see us use the picks we have, hope to grab a steal somewhere, and go into next season status quo. The first half of the season will make or break it for us. If we show the potential to compete, then why not go for it again? We'll have some prospects to move, we have a 1st in '15...maybe Cam shops them and looks to upgrade. With Fucale gone, and likely Ehlers gone after next year, you almost owe it to yourself to, at the very least, SEE if you can make another run. If at xmas we're mediocre, then the rebuild begins. If we buy, it would leave the cupboards preeeeetty thin going forward. The team's play will ultimate decide what route we take. If we're in the top half, and in the discussion again, I think you go for it, and figure everything else out later. Ehlers - Ryan - Gadoury Meier - D. Moynihan - Falkenham Shewfelt - Leblanc - Fortier Watt - Vuic - C. Moynihan - draft pick *Ciampini dealt @ draft Murphy - Hardie/Weegar Lovell - Jacques Ford - Taillefer Fucale Far from a juggernaut. But given the run we've been on the last few years, it's not too bad. At least have something to work with. D would need attention....and another scorer would help. A lot will depend on if certain guys can take the next step (ie: D. Moynihan, Meier, Shewfelt). Regardless, I'm sure the topic will be good for one doozy of a thread lol.

I could see Quebec interested in Fucale so they can free up that OA spot for a impact forward or D.

We can certainly be competitive with our returnees for a while. But in a Q hosted Memorial Cup season, the competition will be steep. If we just stay the course, then we just make the years after that much worse as the top talent starts trickling away. I don't see a firesale, but I hope we don't just tinker next year. I'd like to see a significant move or to at the draft or Xmas.
