1st game in a back to back Vs the Foggies, as the Rocket hit the road for the first time this regular season.
Ryan Graham has returned to the Foggies lineup, which will give them the added boost they'll be looking for.
Rocket are coming off a big 4-1 win over Lewy, and a big game was had by Latal who picked up 3pts in his debut this season.
Hoping for a split over on The Rock, and it'll be nice to get a W in this 1st game.

Wins will be splitted by both teams. PEI will take Firday's game and Foggies will take Saturday's game.

Rocket hopes to overcome jetlag The Guardian
P.E.I. Rocket forward Martin Latal has an opinion on why the St. John’s Fog Devils are 43-23-2-2 at home after two seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
Tonight, the Rocket plays the first of two games in Mile One Stadium. Game 2 is Saturday. Both start at 7 p.m.
“I think it’s the travelling. (Some) guys don’t like flying. That’s hard for guys,’’ said Latal of the Devils’ success. “I hate flying.’’
Who can blame him? He returned from Phoenix Coyotes camp early Wednesday morning and, on seven hours sleep, potted two goals, including the winner in a 4-1 victory over the Lewiston Maineiacs that night.
Granted, the Rocket faced a Lewiston roster that was somewhat depleted.
Phoenix picked Latal in the fifth round (131st overall) in 2006. The Coyotes cut him late last year and he racked up 46 points in 66 games in his rookie season with the Rocket.
This month, he spent nearly a week with the big club but, like most prospects, was told he wasn’t ready. Next year is his contract year where he either signs with Phoenix or becomes a free agent. “I think I did well but I didn’t get a chance to play in the exhibition games, just in the scrimmages.
“They told me I got better from last year and I have a chance to make (Coyotes affiliate) San Antonio and try and make the AHL next year,’’ said the 19-year-old Czech Republic native.
The St. John’s roster should be fortified as winger Ryan Graham, who had 11 points in eight games against the Rocket last season, returned from a free agent tryout with the Minnesota Wild. Graham hasn’t played since injuring his collarbone in an NHL rookie pre-season tournament in Michigan earlier this month. The Fog Devils are waiting on X-rays before committing him to the lineup sheet.
Also included in the returnees list is goalie Timo Pielmeier (San Jose), forward and captain Matt Fillier (Los Angeles) and winger Mario Kempe (Philadelphia). As of Thursday, Buffalo prospects T. J. Brennan and Jean-Simon Allard were still in the Sabres camp. The Devils are winless after one-goal losses to Cape Breton and Moncton last weekend.
P.E.I. has its group of draftees back but Latal won’t forget skating drills under Phoenix head coach Wayne Gretzky’s seasoned eyes. “He’s a great person. He’s always trying to help the rookies when they’re a little bit nervous,’’ said Latal. “You want to show him you’re a good player.’’

Here's a little something to start the day off right. Best of luck tonight gentlemen... fighting-newfoundlander.blogspot.com/2007/09/masters-of-our-own-house.htmlBrothers and Sisters! On April 24th, 2007 Dear Leader stood in the House of Assembly and declared in his Throne Speech that Newfoundland would be “masters of our own house”! Tonight, Brothers and Sisters, our Fog Devils will be masters of their own! Tonight, Brothers and Sisters, the Wolf has set foot on our soil and dares invade our home! Armies of the Federation have launched a new campaign against us! War has been declared! The attack comes at us from the south! Rockets have been launched at us from the Isle of Prince Edward! Even now, General Paiement rallies the troops for the coming battle! Captain Matt, the future King, has put on his helmet and armour and prepares to lead his Brothers in Arms; from the front and not the rear! Our Ryan has heard our cry and comes back to us from the Wilds of Minnesota! Young Patrick, who embodies the true Spirit of the Fighting Newfoundlander, will once more lay his body at the alter of the Hockey Gods and sacrifice himself to advance our Nation! Like Fighting Newfoundlanders everywhere, Our Fog Devils are answering the call to arms! Forward they will press, unrelenting; no quarter shall be asked and none given! They will bring the fight to the enemy and drive the Wolf from our land! Tonight we will show them that Newfoundlanders will bend no knee to any man! We will fight like the free men we are for we owe no allegiance to any man, country, or god for shaping our identity! We have shaped this Nation ourselves! It has been forged through the blood, the sweat, and the very lives of our Native Sons and Daughters! Tonight we shall bring over 300 years of history to bear against the foe for the cause of FREEDOM! The Ministry of Culture and Propaganda has issued a decree calling on the Fog Devil Faithful to wear the Red! Heed this call Brothers and Sisters! This is the call to arms! By wearing the Red we demonstrate our Pride! By wearing the Red we demonstrate our Unity! Tonight the aisles of Mile One shall flow Red as the Ice Floes of April and the nets of our enemy shall be full as Fishery of Old! Tonight we are Masters of our own House! The Battle begins at 7pm! Viva la Fog Devils Revolución! Viva la Fog Devils Nación!

If the Rocket play like they did against Lewiston there is no reason why they can't leave the Rock with at least a split. The Fog Devils have always been tough to play at home and that shouldn't change this year. Do the Fog Devils still have many players at NHL camps? I know that Kempe and Graham are back, but was wondering about Brennan.

I think Brennan and Allard are both still in Buffalo.

Yup as of now we are still missing Brennan and Allard, possibly Graham. But I think if he has his way he'll play, as tonight they are honoring Scott Brophy (Grahams sisters boyfriend and more obviously past team mate)

How are they honoring him? Surely they're not having number retirements already....

Well that another debate. It's not sure as of yet what the deal really is. Some say to early other say why wait. It's not that he was a grate player he actually has probably very little left to his hockey-playing career. I don't know if outsiders noticed or not in our first season he was the reason the team preformed so well (for an expansion team) he left his stamp on the team and was probably the best if not one of the best Captains we will ever see in a Fog Devils sweater. I see no issue with retiring 12 as the number is pretty much not allowed to worn now anyway so it's just the natural progression.

Are they honoring him because he is Graham's sister's boyfriend or as a former player?...... ;D just kidding
He was their first captain and a good player for the Fog Devils, nice gesture from the organization whether they retire his number not. Things like that bring a sense of tradition to an organization.

This is the team's 3rd season in the league... waaaay too early to start retiring numbers, IMO. I'm sure he was a nice player and a good captain, but c'mon! There's just not enough team history there to justify it.
I mean, you guys have won 1 playoff game so far. Sorry, but retiring his number makes no sense to me.
Honoring him for his contributions is a nice gesture though.
It'd be nice if the Rocket would do that for some of our former players/leaders/captains at times (Lali, Bureau, etc.)

That does bring up an interesting debate though in retiring numbers. And I still firmly believe that some numbers should be retired.
IMO the Rocket should retire Bureau's, Laliberte's and Lapierre's. All three were career Rocket players, played a huge role with this organization and were both captains.
And I don't like the idea of retiring their numbers long after they leave, like with David Ling. IMO if you are going to retire the number you should do it a year or two after when it still really means something. What I would have done was retire Bureau and Lapierre's numbers last season and Laliberte's this season. I know it sounds like a lot but after those 3 I don't know if I would have anyone else in mind as even a candidate.
