The Players!!

First off Going to start with some of the players here.There are players on this team that really shouldn't be here and there are players that need to wake the hell up and Some players that need to carry this team cause non of the rest will..

Defense...
Gervais, Southorn, Lessard

These 3 guys are very important to the Defense 3 Major vets on the blue line and they have to wake the hell up Lessard has to get his head out of his ass and start playing like a true captain Southorn is one of them players that trys and is trying to carry this team on the defense side of it he always gives it his all I don't Blame him for any of this defense problems .. Gervais Can't really say enough about him playing with a broken wrist etc and still out there trying to give it his all its good to see Can't really blame Gervais either Lessard is the major blame out of all this. And i know u people will be like no hes not. But he is He is not playing at all None zip nothing coming out of this guy. And he is the TEAM Captain like what the hell I seen Better captains in midget Hockey.

As for Swit I really think he needs to be traded Cause i think the Rookie players are taking after him and hes not all that great of a player to be following. Sure he has some size But he doesn't use it i never seen him lay a hit yet and he always goes for these big hits and misses and then sends the other players on a 2 on 1 Seen that a Few times at the CCC I really think that could be a major problem for the Rocket Defense. He is suppose to be a leader due to the fact that hes a 20 year old But players can not be taking after this guy thats for sure they will just end up loosing which they are. I really think this should be addressed. As for the other Members of the defense.

Malouin, Clow, Deighan

Clow is young and should be sent down to get more playing time etc he is not producing here yet and thats due to the little ice time he is getting i really think they need to send him down. From what i seen of this kid he is not performing to what he should be all this hype about him.. And thats partly the coaching staff's fault they need to do the right thing and send him down.

Malouin He try's and isn't to bad of a player Makes some good plays etc I never really saw anything special about this kid either Still young but still don't think he should be on the team.

Deighan- Like this kids spark kinda like a spark like paynter which is good to see on defense he takes some stupid minors etc but thats cause he is a rookie he will learn not to but really like this guy good addition to the rocket defense.

That pretty much sums up the defense part of it And really I don't blame the goalies One thing that needs to be adressed is laff he needs to stop letting in weak goals, ones from the top of the circle etc other then that. Thats what i think needs to happen to the Defense.

As for the forwards

Walker,Doyle,Latal,Morrison,

Walker- playing not to bad needs to pass the puck more though

Doyle- hasn't been as effective as i would hoped he would have been this early on.. has a good shot etc needs to use t more and try to get open a bit more seems he is always around the other teams players and he can't get open.

Latal- Good player very good player but he needs to stop being so cocky or he will get punched out. very gifted player good to have him back in the line up brings a lot of spark to the front line and creates a lot of chances.

Morrsion- Another player that is very gifted he can take control of the game and he can let it go also. Good to see him making some chances and getting to the net etc the coach needs to stop playing him on defense on the pp He would be so much more effective in the play down low on the pp And thats what the team is lacking if he would listen and put Morrison up front on the pp Be much better up front and wouldn't cost us any goals.

These 4 players need to bring there game to the rink and if and when they do look out if these players all play the way they can then other teams in the q look out cause they will shut u down as quick as they step onto the ice. These players are a major key to this team.

As for McKinley I really don't think there is a spot on this team for him he is not producing at all. Hes a ghost out there on the ice and should be sent down imo.

Main- Love this guys game in your face style hockey gets under the skin of other players etc. Its awesome to see very strong when he gets the puck he can make some good moves and plays. Love how he is willing to sick up for his team mates also very good to have up front and on defense to.

Kana- This guy has more balls then half of this team for a player his size he is not scared of anything and gets up from anything. this guy has guts very gifted player and boy can he fly. Good to have up front.

Locke- seems not getting to much ice time but the time he does get he makes it work for him. out hitting etc making some players be nice to actually see him get more shifts i am sure he could create something good when hes out there.

Paynter- Can't say enough very pleased to see him on the team hes all heart he plays the game to play hes in the game cause he loves it so much He puts it all out there and its awesome keep it up.

With these players We could win. We should not be loosing games we should be winning we have a very strong team a very strong one. One of the strongest teams in the league and we could be non stoppable if the players wanted it to be that way we could pick off teams left right and center But the players are not playing so thats not happening This team needs to start playing or their season will be over before they know it and they will start playing when its to late i know its early but this team needs to wake the hell up and play some hockey and actually win some games or everything will be gone The season the Fans etc Serge wake the hell up and get this team playing like one make moves do what ever it takes just WAKE THE HELL UP AND WATCH A DAM GAME instead of walking around with your head so far up your ass. Look at what u are producing.

Pick it up boys u can control this league if u wanted to So why not do it. Don't Do it for the coach Don't even do it for the fans Do it for your self and be proud that u are actually raising hell and taking control of this league cause u can do it everything is there Just need to work it. You would be un-stopable.

Lessard is not playing the way he is capable of playing. Being named captain is a new role for him at this level and is a bigger, different responsibility than being an assistant like he was before. This team has alot of expectations on them this year and they have a coach that not many people have confidence in, tough position to be in for any new captain because the captain is the go-between with the players and the coaches.

I would give him more time as captain to give him a chance to get used to it and be more comfortable with his new role. Once he gets more time under his belt as captain, I think we will see the Lessard that has played well for us before.

The whole defensive effort sucks so far this year. There has been a few good individual efforts from time to time but overall they can not get the puck out of our end, they can not maintain effective coverage in our end and as for generating offense they have 1 goal and 3 assits but overall have been ineffective in helping keep any pressure on in the offensive zone.

Gervais, Lessard and Southorn are a good core. Swit needs to go. Clow Deighan and Malouin should be getting regular ice time so they are ready to play come playoff time, if we make the playoffs.

Coaching staff have to get the D working with the rest of the team. The whole team has to work better as a unit.

They have to give up chipping the puck along the boards to a forward standing flat footed. It may have been a good strategy in Pee Wee but at this level they have to be able to make a good outlet pass to to a player in motion for an effective transition.

When your system has your wingers sitting flatfooted along the boards waiting to have someone chip the puck up, the opposing D pinches with no fear of a breakout past them and you're held in constantly.

Sorry Jr. somehow I drifted in my rant and changed the focus of your post from "The Players" to coaching. I think the players are trying to execute what they are being told to do but it is a system that just wont work at this level.

I wasn't singling Lessard out, if anything I was defending him. Someone else brought up that he wasn't playing well and I just gave my thoughts on it. But adjusting to new roles such as a captain can have an effect on someone's on-ice performance at any level including the NHL, go ask anybody who has been a captain at this level.

Defensive puck movement is five players playing the same system, it is a fact that offense wins hockey game and team defense wins championships. To blame the D for the problems we have is ridiculous. The forwards standing still along the boards has nothing to do with the defense it is the system they have been taught. Playing man to man in your own end leads everyone to run around and that is what they are playing, this leads to the breakdown. The defensive part of the game is the responsibility of the five players on the ice, every foreward, when asked, will say that the one area they constantly need to work on to get to the next level is the defensive part of their game. Watch our forecheck, we have no support, a one, two, two forecheck when you are losing a game is stupid and this has nothing to do with the defense. It is time you look at the big picture, at this level and the levels above it is all about system, players identifying plays and their assignments, these boys don't know, you can see that whenever there is a breakdown and frankly I'm supprised they haven't given the coach shit. It is not the players responsibility to create the system and the identity of a team, it is the coaching staff, plane and simple. If a players will not, or is unable to play the system the coach puts in place then you deal with that player, however when an entire team can not or will not play that system then it is the COACH - period. Think about it.

Maybe the added pressure of being the "Leader" is affecting his game. He has not being playing up to his ability. The problem is so much bigger than the few individual player problems in the first seven games.

Rocket2 probably said it better, but I was trying to criticize the system being implemented and point out that its a coaching problem more than a player problem. The defense problem is a team problem stemming from a system that the coach has tried to implement that just wont work and is preventing the team from generating a rush and efectively clearing their zone.
