Greg O'brien potted a nice goal on a rebound to help the Panthers to a shut out win over Acadia tonight at MacLaughlin Arena.
It was a nice change to see a team play 60 solid minutes. The pace was faster, guys finish their checks and players are always in motion.
Very enjoyable game. Looking forward to Sundays match-up against Dal at 4:00 Sunday.

I also went to the game last night and it was a great game to watch. The pace was very fast from the opening face off. These guys don't stop. Great goaltending by UPEI. Greag did have a nice goal. He looks comfortable out there.Kris Macdonald got a roughing penalty with I thgink 3 minutes left. I thought to myself, no fighting in this league Kris.

You're right that there's not many fights but it is very physical fast hockey and enjoyable to watch. I had great intentions of getting out to Sundays game but something came up and I couldn't make it. Panthers lost 5-4 in shoot out Sunday. Next Home game is a 7:30 start on Halloween night against the Moncton Blue Eagles. www.upei.ca/athletics/schedules#mhockeyOn another note Travis Mealy was listed on the program Saturday but did not play. I don't know if he was even dressed. He did not make the stat sheet for either game.

he didnt dress saturday. nt sure about sunday. Mealy hasn't dressed yet for the team, but hopefully will be soon. He had an off season injury that has been keeping him from playing. As far as I know he's now skating.

AUS is BY FAR the best hockey to watch around here - fast-paced, no fights, great goaltending.
....not crazy about the sound system at the Mac, though - they're not happy unless they're busting your ears, it seems.
Can't go tonight, it's Hallowe'en, and I've been grounded.
I'll be there on Nov 10th, though!

Can't go tonight, it's Hallowe'en, and I've been grounded. I'll be there on Nov 10th, though! It is and it isn't the best (Moncton perspective) ... depends on what you are going to see. Personally I don't find it as entertaining but the quality of hockey is better ... passing is better ... players are a little faster ... smarter etc. However you also don't get to see burgeoning NHlers like Crosby, Voracek, J. Bernier, Esposito, Sheppard, Latendresse etc. What I have noticed in the AUS lately is that the guys that play in the Q at 20 often jump to the AUS and don't seem to lose a step and are strong players in their first year ... not going through any sort of rookie adjustments ... indicating the level of play is not that far apart. Josh Hepditch made the jump and played on a National Championship team in his first year making a huge impact in the championship game ... Bureau has been excellent ... Karl Fournier (gone now) ... etc.

....not crazy about the sound system at the Mac, though - they're not happy unless they're busting your ears, it seems. I'll be there on Nov 10th, though! you had to know i'd chime in on this the mac (both rinks) are an abomination for sound guys...the main rink you are above the speakers which are angled down in a glass tomb and you never have any sweet clue how loud it actually is until someone mentions it to you Rink B is worse, the door to get into the press box for music and announcing is off the main hallway and all you have is half inch glass to see the game...you just have to guess how loud it is because it's like playing your music from the apartment next door and listening to it that way...announcing...pffft...always a guess as to what you sound like. I'm confused that as music/announcing has become a mainstay in hockey as to why no one was consulted even remotely during the design to say....k this isn't gonna work. It's the same at the CCC, umpteen retrofits to the rink and i'm still never sure how loud it is because there's no where i can be put that's in direct line to the speakers...but the CCC is a godsend in comparison to the CARI.
