Darcy
The mic is an okay brand but one of the other proble you are having is that when the fans arrive and some have blackberry's they cause allot of problems with wireless. Instead of moving the reciever put a relay in at center ice or at least towards the canadian flag. I know you can check it just before game time but just before game time most of the peolpe arrive and in comes the start of your problems.

i agree that could be and probably is causing the problem...i'm just stunned because the receiver is a heck of alot closer to the mic then where it used to be and we had less problems with it then...the mic could be damaged too...its been around for awhile...really tough to say...it is being adressed though as we speak

When it comes to wireless it does not matter how close the receiver is when a blackberry is there belive me it happened to me and the receiver was only 25ft away, the mic worked fine the day before and when the crowd was there it was the sh__s. Can you change the frequencey on the mic? this could help as well

thought of that too, but unfortunately the receiver is pretty basic...all it has is gain control...and it works universally with all AKG handhelds...we have an AKG that we use for gigs and stuff and it works in the civic centre with the receiver there...we have a TOA at the rink too which does have changeable frequencies...i may give that a shot

Simple solution : Let the fans sing O Canada When the ramparts were in town and the mic was broken the fans fron Quebec did a pretty good job

Why not just use a wired mic? ... at least it would work 100% of the time.

If this does not work let me know I have a couple of wireless that might work, but maybe for safety you should go hard wired as the singer only stands a few feet from the box at least go with taht until the mic is fixed or tell everyone to turn of there blackberry's I know I always leave mine on and I know what they do to wirelss.

As originally suggested, play a good recording of 'O Canada!', and be done with.
Lotsa places do that, it's perfectly.
....and it would avoid this recurrent embarrassment.
