We all agree we are missing an experienced quarterback puck moving dman and a big skilled scoring winger to play on our top two lines right?
Well what if we had never traded Joey Haddad? I know hindsight is just that but he did show signs early last year of being capable of breaking out offensively .. he just for whatever reason fell out of favour with the coaching staff and was moved for Swit this summer
after last night he now has 7 goals and 18 points... almost matching his totals from all of last year before Halloween.. he is a big kid not afraid to get his nose dirty either
he certainly could have filled the scoring void on our second line and allowed Serge to maybe concentrate harder last summer on acquiring the dman we desperately need
thoughts?

We definitley don't need the dumb penalties he takes.

yeah hindsight can be a beast...but i mean, you have to look at other Rocket players that were moved over the years who didn't produce much here but went onto bigger and better things elsewhere...Michael Dubuc is a good candidate...was touted to be grand around here, didn't amount to jack squat and went to Rouyn and was one of their top players...Boivin didn't really go on to be a superstar in Gatineau but was a piece of the puzzle nonetheless, as opposed to being here where he was always on the bubble...
Haddad is no different, embraced mediocrity here and seems to be onto bigger and better in CB...he's back home, he doesn't have the stress of missing friends and family...there could be a lot at play...had he stayed on PEI with the Rocket, who knows...he may have had a breakout year this year, or he may have stayed at the same level of mediocrity...we were looking for a Dman, decided to give Swit a shot as a 20 and we rolled craps...compare Swit on PEI and Haddad on PEI...i'd probably still take Haddad but only because he'd be useful bait around Christmas to bulk up for a run

Boivin didnt last a full season in Gatineau
Dubuc was a terrible mistake....
both are not comparable at all
I know Haddad might not have broken out here .. i'm just saying right now he would have rounded out our top 6 and allowed us to get a real veteran dman who could take some pressure of our rooks and maybe give us some semblance of a PP
just food for thought that was all.. i'll shaddup now

oh it was valid statement for sure, and i do agree with you...my main point was that HAddad probably wouldn't have broke out here and the trade was made to try an bolster the D with a vet and it didn't really pan out
and Boivin and Dubuc were really the only two that came to mind...so i'll withdraw them as comparisons

I think Haddad is wishing he was still a Rocket, he wanted to go back into the home penalty box. Did anyone see that?

With hindsight it's easy to judge and evaluate past trades, but even in foresight that trade should never had happened in the first place. We will never know if he could have put up the same numbers with the Rocket as he is with the Screaming Eagles this season, but those points would really be helping out the Rocket right now. At the time of the trade I thought they should have gotten more than Swit in return, and right now it looks like we basically gave away a point-per-game player with nothing to show for it in return. It remains to be seen whether or not he can keep it up points wise, but either way that deal never should have been made.

Joey had a great game the other night and sees to have settled in nicely with the Eagles. I agree with wingman, the trade should never have happened...but how do we know Joey didn't go to management and request a trade to the Eagles, it is his home town. His folks would come over to the games and I'm sure they are happy he is playing in Sydney. I thought the penalty box gaff was funny...it did get a few chuckles from the fans. I'm also happy fans didn't boo Haddad.

I heard a few boos for bad bad Joe Haddad. Not from me. I couldn't be happier for him.

Remember last year, when the Rocket were playing the Eagles, and I don't remember if a time out was called, or it was the half time break, but as Davenport skated back to his, Haddad just pushed him over and got two minutes. That was so funny.

Interesting question there bois and I think sometimes it is a really good idea to look back and wonder what if. Well, I have never been a Haddad fan and personally don't feel that moving him was a mistake simply a good idea for CB. Sure Haddad has 7 goals and 18 pts so far but he also has 40 pims meaning he is averaging a penalty a game which is by far the worst on the team in terms of minor penalties. As well, I think some people are forgetting that many Rocket fans were talking about how last season an 18 yr old Haddad was starting to break out when by the start of Dec he had 6 goals and 17 pts in only 28 gms and had worked his way up to the second line. But after that despite still playing pretty regular ice time Haddad only had 4 pts over the final 42 games. If he continues on this pace great for him but I still won’t be convinced until at least December that he is starting to breakout. And personally I saw that same player the other night that I saw last season. A player who has talent but I think his stats are more a reflection of playing on an offensive team (1st in Goals For) and having a linemate who is among the league leaders moreso than him really breaking out. IMO both of Haddad's goals were softies and outside of them I don't think he really had an impact on the game. Don't get me wrong I am glad that things are going well for Haddad in CB but watching his game on Wed certainly didn't have me wishing he was still here. And thinking of whatif's I have always had 2 big ones. The first one is that 2 yrs ago there were some big rumours about potential trades for Stewart. What seemed to be the strongest one was Shawinigan’s interest in him. But in the end Shawinigan ended up trading Pistilli & a 2nd for Labrecque & a 3rd. Had we instead made that move the Rocket would have had Pistilli last season to add to that forward depth that we were lacking which likely would have been enough to get into the second round and this season we would have a 19 yr old who is leading the league in goals with 15. I mean just imagine Pistilli’s skill on the top line with Walker & Morrison. As well that 2nd round pick that Gatineau got could have been used on Delisle who appears to be an absolute stud back there for the Olympics which would further add to our defensive depth. These two players (especially Pistilli) would have changed dramatically improved our outlook not only for this season but next season as well. The second one is whatif Lund had turned out as advertised and become the stud defenseman that Marshall or Grant are right now. With a top 5 pick you expect an impact player and as an 18 yr old this season Lund could have been that top pairing defenseman that we are sorely lacking right now. Any thoughts?
