As a 20YO Swit was paid. Probably a decent amount of money, more than most 20YO with no education. He was more than willing to accept that money while watching the games from the stands. In fact, he was probably grossly overpaid seeing as all he did was practice with the team.
He could have left the team but that meant giving up his 'paycheck'.
All you guys crying over the 'poor boy' seem to have forgotten that he's a man (20YO), not a little kid. He was paid well for his services and for the last few weeks he was paid even though he didn't have to perform in any games.
He no longer fit into the team's plans so he was let go and he will find some other Jr team (probably Jr.A) where he will make a decent living (considering his age and educational level) for the rest of the year.

Actually Jason is working towards a Business Degree. His courses last year were at UCCB, and this year he was taking his Accounting courses at UPEI.

Thanks Mikeb...who knew when you were 20 you weren't still a kid...all we said i think was that it would only be fair to know where the kid stood, sure it was pretty obvious, but the team could have just let him know...kinda shitty the way it happens sometimes. Pretty harsh assumption that he didn't have any education, might wanna check your facts Mikey!!!!
I remember when Charette was let go here with the Rocket as well, played his last game and was told thanks and bye....the Rocket do have a reputation of doing this to their players, all the fans wanted to know was, finally let us know what was up....as i am sure Jason only wanted as well...
