VDO lost last night. With a win against them tonight Quebec would make sure they don't catch them. With a win tonight either in regulation or OT Quebec clinches the top 5. Quebec: 3 games left, 39 wins and 81 points Val D'Or: 3 games left, 34 wins and 76 points Shawi: 4 games left, 37 wins and 77 points Shawi could still catch Quebec if they win tonight but they would need to win their last 3 and Quebec lose their last 2. Moosehead should hope they draw Shawinigan
It looks like a 2-3-2 format for them in round one with home games on the Mon (Mar 30)- Tue (Mar 31)-Thurs (Apr 2) at Forum - it would be tues wed and fri

Looks like the top 8 are set although Charlottetown has an outside chance of finishing 8th, but unlikely I think. Rouyn has a tough finish so if we can take 1 of 2 from Moncton we could be going into Saturday with a chance of finishing 10th or 11th as the way Saint John is playing it will be tough for hem to win on the Island. Should we lose both to Moncton Cape Breton will probably catch us and we could finish 13th, even 14th if we can't beat Saint John and Gatineau runs the table. Here is a faint attempt at projecting final outcome based on this ^^ Moncton 98 pts Rimouski 97 pts Blainville 91 pts Quebec 85 pts Shawinigan 82 pts Val d'or 80 pts Baie Comeau 80 pts Sherbrooke 76 pts Charlottetown 73 Pts Halifax 72 pts Saint John 72 pts Cape Breton 70 pts Rouyn-Noranda 70 pts Gatineau 67 pts Victoriaville 63 pts Chicoutimi 63 pts First Round Chicoutimi (16) vs Moncton (1) Victoriaville (15) vs Rimouski (2) Gatineau (14) vs Blainville (3) Rouyn-Noranda (13) vs Quebec (4) Cape Breton (12) vs Shawinigan (5) Saint John (11) vs Val d'Or (6) Halifax (10) vs Baie Comeau (7) Charlottetown (9) vs Sherbrooke (8)

Since I know it will come up I formulated above Moncton splits vs Hfx but gets a loser point one game equals 5 Halifax splits vs Moncton and beats SJ again but SJ gets the loser point in the Halifax game. Charlottown loses to Moncton beats SJ Cape Breton beats Bathurst twice (thats the stretch actually!) Gatineau like Moncton gets 5 points out of 3 games Victo beats Drummondville and a loser point
Yes this is possible I worked it out.... Everyone should try this exercise See who gets closest next week

Well I think Gatineau,Cape Breton Halifax and charlottetown could all win in the first round they are deffinately not favorites but it's possible at least 3 of those teams could move on to round 2.

Everyone liked the parity in the league last year - and I think its even more of a crapshoot this year. No big league favourite - perhaps Rimouski at this point? - and a handful of teams that could win it all. I don't like the Q's chances at the Memorial Cup as none of the top teams seem built as as strong as in years past. Usually there are 2-3 clear favourites, and a handful of teams that look a lot like this years main contenders. A bit disappointing in that the Q is hosting this year, where we MIGHT not represent the league that well. Then again, hard to say and anything can happen in a short tourney where the Q hosts.
And of course, you add in the fact there are a bunch of teams mid-pack and below that seem to have the potential to upset or at least make the first round a tough one for the top 6+- teams - should be a wild playoffs.

Yeah Gatineau is the one that stands out to me. If Halifax does play BC I like our chances better then if playing Val'dor or Shawinigan.

I don't think the Mooseheads beat Moncton.....you might get a point, but I even doubt that. I see Moncton winning out, and still finishing second overall.

My predictions
Moncton (99) Rimouski (97) Blainville-Boisbriand (91) Québec (85) Shawinigan (83) Baie-Comeau (80) Val-d’Or (78) Shebrooke (78) Charlottetown (73) Saint John (71) Cape Breton (70) Rouyn-Noranda (70) Halifax (70) Gatineau (67) Chicoutimi (63) Victoriaville (62)
(1) Moncton v. (16) Victoriaville (2) Rimouski v. (15) Chicoutimi (3) Blainville-Boisbriand v. (14) Gatineau (4) Québec v. (13) Halifax (5) Shawinigan v. (12) Rouyn-Noranda (6) Baie Comeau v. (11) Cape Breton (7) Val-d’Or v. (10) Saint John (8) Sherbrooke v. (9) Charlottetown
The Olympiques could beat the Armada; Cape Breton could beat the Drakkar; and if Meier, Ehlers and Brassard play out of their minds, the Mooseheads could surprise the Remparts. Should be a great first round. By the way, for those who have the channel, TVA Sports are showing a game on Friday the 27th (likely an Armada game).

So what is the tie-breaker should Halifax not get a point tomorrow? Can't believe I don't remember this from year to year. If the Moose lose, Halifax, Gatineau and Cape Breton will all have 68 points, and 31 wins. If the Moose get a point, they'll be the 12th seed and play Shawinigan. If they don't, they'll either be 13th and play Quebec, or 14th and play Blainville.
Edit: Got it - ROW. Halifax has three SO wins. Gatineau has two. Cape Breton has one. We need a point tomorrow to get 12th. Otherwise we're 14th.
Off-topic: Val-d'Or plays Rouyn Noranda in the first round. I'd buy tickets for that if I could.

I think we would have a better chance vs Quebec or Blainville. For some reason Shawinigan scares me more. Plus getting the 5th pick in the draft would be good.
