Was flippin thru channels the other night and came across our very own Mr Dunlop on tv alongwith Eastlink's Matt Beardsley.. how come ya never told anyone you were gonna be on tv reg? some of us could have called in so Terry wouldn't have had so much fillertime to kill the hour?

Haha...It was kind of a last minute thing.
They plan on doing a "sports" Point of View once a month, so I told Terry to call me next time....we'll see if I get the call and if I do I'll let the board know, which I may regret... ;D

i asked Matt Beardsly (sp) at the last Rocket game that was on Eastlink, he said no Q Edition this year....no reason and i can't imagine why.....some pretty boring stuff on instead now on eastlink. I kinda miss the Q edition.
anyone see Boomer and Fiddler on Compass tonight? I gotsta wonder if Boomer actually watches any games and if he realizes that Mior has been gone since last January....he seems to think we miss little ryan mior.....as he put it....ummm he's been gone long enough to know that he ain't a factor no more!

Just seen the last couple mins of this show as I too was flipping the channels.

That "Boomer and Fiddler" segment really gets my blood boiling every Monday - it's an embarrassment to Island sports fans.
Here are two people who have absolutely no fucking clue what they're talking about....but that isn't going to stop either of them.
Boomer just doesn't know sports at all, and Fiddler is a self-proclaimed sports genius who never bothers to get his facts straight, because he's too lazy; the fact that these two bozos are deemed "experts" on sports makes us look like a bunch of hosers....I mean really, is this the best we can do in terms of sports commentary on PEI?
I've NEVER seen either Boomer nor Fiddler at a Rocket game - I'm not saying they never go, but I've never seen them around the rink on game night, except the times that Boomer came and sang the anthem, wearing shorts in November, then didn't even stick around to watch the game.....he and Rainie were too busy planning their trip to Rimouski to watch Crosby play, I suppose.
So here are these two idiots going on about the Rocket two weeks ago, and Boomer, wearing a stupid baseball cap, explaining why coach "GENE" was fired - he couldn't even pronounce Jean's name properly.
Last night, Boomer was going on about "Little Ryan Mior", who is actually 6'0 tall and 181 lbs....and hasn't played here in 11 months, so what does that have to do with anything?
Then they were talking about the brawl in Summerside, Boomer talked about how the game itself unfolded (does anyone seriously think he was there?), how Ben C should be suspended, and then Fiddler chimed in with the brilliant remark that no one should be suspended, because no one was injured, and it was "entertainment".
WHAT MORONS!
Shame on Boomer, shame on Fiddler, shame on Bruce for going along with this sham of a show, and shame on CBC for allowing it to happen.
Overpaid dumbasses - OFF WITH THEIR HEADS!

Fiddler hasn't seen the inside of the rink yet this year....that I do know as usually when he does he's upstairs and since I make a trip up there inbetween the periods I've yet to see him.
He was called on the carpet before when after criticizing the soccer program at UPEI he was asked by Mike Redmond in a letter to the paper to state when and where he had ever attended a soccer game out there. No reply, so I guess that answers that.
CBC is funded by public tax dollars, so in essence you own it. I'd say a few e-mails to the newsroom complaining about the hosts lack of sports knowledge might sway them to find more creditable guests.

As for writing to CBC, not a chance - no one there cares what the sports fans think, else they would cover sports properly, the way they used to. This duo of dunces, Boomer and Fiddler, is a pretty shoddy substitute for decent local sports coverage. It's an embarrassment. |

I suppose it had to happen eventually.. I agree completely with Fr..coreyapple
however I still watch the five minute flurry because at least it's something....
besides they wont change it.... they need Boomer to appear every 9 minutes in some form or other.. I actually get more annoyed by the fact we need 3 seperate weather forecasts in an hour

also in all fairness to Fiddler and Boomer... they likely are just talking about what the producer tells them too and using the age old "they weren't there " excuse isn't really fair.. one can form an opinion on the Rocket without attending everygame.. and one can certainly form an opinion on the "brawl" without having to see it live.. the video has been played multiple times on every sportscast across the country
