Rumor has the Cats trading out of round 1 and adding goalie Fortin from CB(1995). Two separate trades I assume? I doubt Fortin would worth anything more than a 7th since he didn't even play in the q last year. Yup Cats have 3 deals done apparently, 2/3 are pick deals only.

Palov said that talking to GMs this is supposed to be a weak draft for Americans. If that's the case I hope Moncton at least tries to wait on picking Americans.

Veleno has been granted exceptional player status, that does change things up for the draft order, Bowers may fall as low as #4 now.

Wonder if this deal is the one some have missed...
2014-05-30 Moncton Victoriaville Rd_2, #27, 2014 Victoriaville Moncton Rd_2, 2015 (Mon)
...but I could find the WC trading away two 2nd rounders, one in the Danault trade in 2013 and another in the Simpson trade last year. They then got it back for a 2014 2nd and sent it to Bat. WC should have no second rounder.

Cats get Fortin(G) for a 2015 10th from CB...If he plays one game with the WC they send a 4th 2016 to CB.
Cats traded the 17th pick and 71st pick to Chicoutimi for #19 and #55.
They then traded #19 to Shawinigan for #21 and #68
They also got the 29th overall pick in the Lalonde deal...not sure if it means the 2016 2nd went back?

Picking up some more high picks. If this info is right then I think the cats now have picks 21st 29th 52nd 54th 55th 69th 105th 109th 124th 162nd 180th 198th 235th 252nd So the breakdown now is 2 seconds, 3 thirds and 1 fourth. The rest are all 6th or later. They have a bunch of high picks now. I would like them to grab a guy like Rafuse (big powerfoward) with the 29th pick if he is still available

2015-06-05 Cape Breton Moncton Fortin, Zachary (1995-03-25) Moncton Cape Breton Rd_10, #164, 2015 (Bat)
It's 164
2015-06-05 Moncton Chicoutimi Rd_1, #17, 2015 Rd_4, #72, 2015 Chicoutimi Moncton Rd_1, #19, 2015 (Cap) Rd_3, #55, 2015 (Rim)

Officially
Shawinigan Rd_1, #19, 2015 (Cap) Rd_2, 2016 Rd_3, 2016 (Sha)
Moncton Rd_2, #21, 2015 (Dru) Rd_2, #29, 2015 (Cha) Rd_4, #69, 2015
So scratch out the 29th pick and the 2016 second rounder from the Lalonde deal as offsetting. So it's 19 and RD3 2016 for 21 and 69. Does that look like unfair anyone else? Moncton gave up the higher picks in the deal.
So essentially traded Lalonde and #19 for 21, 29 and 69. I think Shaw wins this deal

Officially Shawinigan Rd_1, #19, 2015 (Cap) Rd_2, 2016 Rd_3, 2016 (Sha) Moncton Rd_2, #21, 2015 (Dru) Rd_2, #29, 2015 (Cha) Rd_4, #69, 2015 So scratch out the 29th pick and the 2016 second rounder from the Lalonde deal as offsetting. I think Shaw wins this deal It's probably 2 deals combined, Lalonde deal plus trading down from #19 to 21 and getting the 69th pick. Lalonde deal looks like just the 29th pick right now...2nd and 3rds offset. The thing that sucks is it leaves you with no 2nd or 3rd in 2016...cats always seem to be chasing picks they lost in prior years...Patenuade styale.

Apparently if Fortin plays a game for the Cats this season then they also give up a 4th round pick in 2016. That seems...excessive.
He had really good numbers playing Junior A in Alberta last year and his Q numbers weren't horrible by any means. That is until he ended up in CB, which I guess shouldn't come as a surprise.
Either way they're really gambling with this goaltending situation right now, but maybe there wasn't much else out there for a reasonable price. I really hope this doesn't end up being like the second half of 2011 with Gleeson/Kennedy/Thibeau because that was borderline unwatchable.

With him being 20, do the Wildcats make a move with one of Sweeney or Johnston this weekend or do they wait until it is sure that Fortin makes the team and Sweeney returns. The only problem with waiting is that it seems to drop the price that Moncton coul get for one of them

The only problem with waiting is that it seems to drop the price that Moncton coul get for one of them I would be surprised if they didn't move one of the OA d-men this weekend. As you said if you wait until September then the price drops as teams already have filled some of those holes. In their shoes I would try and add a 1st for Sweeney, even if it's 2016, plus a young player or another pick(top 3). Chicoutimi got a 1st and 2nd for Ranger, Sweeney should be worth at least that. If Fortin flops, they might have to trade for another OA like Sullivan Fleschler or Brodeur.
