What the Rocket needs is some good old fashion PEI exposure...try having Boomer do a player profile every night during his weather report or devote a segment of Compass to Rocket news "Rocket Rumors".....

Boomer has enough exposure.... let's get Kenny MacDougall and Yannick Jean to handle your proposed compass segment

Bois and Score....call your agents...let's do lunch and get our contract rider sorted out...gotta have the perks.... 1. No brown M&Ms, just like Van Halen. 2. Six pack of Moose Green on the set...gets hot under them lights 3. Cattle prod to zap Boomer when he loses trck of what we're talkin' about.
Bois, Score...let's hear the perks for the show rider. Pretty good hunch who Bois is so it would be animated.
Jezzsus..almost forgot the essential.....SKITTLES!!
Also a set like Red Green had or Bob & Doug's....chances are the Mother Corp has it in storage.

you know, we are fans that go on a regular basis can play a big part on people coming.... i know i have been asked how the game was many times and my response has not been good. we now need to say...the team is coming on, it was a great game, you should have been there...etc.etc. word of mouth plays a BIG part in any persons decision to go. for me i will be passing on the GOOD news... Too true Wallee...While good news travels fast, bad news travels faster. If each die-hard season ticket holder told their friends, collegues at work, etc about what a great game they just saw word might just get around for the 2nd half. Like yourself I get to work the next day and at least a dozen people ask me how was the game. Word of mouth is the original "facebook". I've done it a few times in the past where I would offer my ticket to friends or invite them to a game to give them the chance to check it out. Some of the times there simply was no interest and when someone would take me up on it, the game was either a stinker or a boring game. As fans we can use the word of mouth but it the end, it's still the team that has to put on a good product. Just my opinion, but word of mouth can also go the other way too. If we get people out to the games but the games are boring or not good hockey, word can also easily get around to others that it's not worth shelling out the $15.

My experience with giving away tickets - and I've given away lots of them over the 5 Rocket seasons - is that some people just will NOT pay to go watch a hockey game.
A woman I know sitting in front of me at the last Rocket game told me they'd finally got season tickets this year, whereas in previous years, they went only when they could have the company tickets.
She said 'We've NEVER had to pay for hockey before', as if paying to go to a game was an anomaly.
Another well-known hockey personality who shall remain unnamed said to me, when the Senators were here, 'I don't believe in paying to go watch a hockey game'.
Another man, who really enjoys the games when he does go, told me last year, as I was giving him two tickets, 'Thanks, I really want to go to this game, but I couldn't find anyone with tickets to give away'; when I suggested he might 'buy some', he just gave me a puzzled look.
That kind of thinking is very prevalent around here, and for most of these marginal fans, getting the occasional freebie isn't going to lead them to make purchases at the box office - they'll just wait for another freebie to come along.

I've never had a problem giving away tickets because well I don't.. I bought them and I go to the games
tho I have on occasion given away tickets for friends/family and usually don't have trouble doing so
I know we've had this discussion before ... I strongly disgree with your generalization/stereotyping of Islanders and Island hockey fans... put a winning product on the ice, play an exciting brand of hockey, market the club as an Island team, don't be so standoffish with your presence, be honest and forthcoming with fans, and most importantly have someone who can answer questions/concerns that doesn't make people feel as if they are somehow being a burden on you while handing you their money and you'll be fine

Perhaps you just have "cheap" friends and you shouldn't paint all Islanders with that same brush. You market a good product and people will come!

I am NOT painting all Islanders with that brush, I'm just recounting some experiences I've had, and I'll stand by my comment that lots of people around here just will not pay for tickets.
We have some great hockey fans here - real ones, I mean, who know hockey very well, much better than I do, and will go to the games, make noise, and support their team, win or lose....Rockettalk is full of such fans.
But quite simply, there aren't enough of those real fans.
We have a lot more of those so-called, mythical, "great Island hockey fans" who are merely TV fans, and can't be bothered to support the local team.....people like Boomer and Fiddler, who are interested only in publicizing themselves.
Considering that this Rocket team is 10-6 at home this year, and riding the crest of a 5-game winning streak at home, you'd expect attendance to really pick up after Christmas.
I'm sure that's what management is hoping for.

Well said Bois....that should be printed off in on an 11x17 size paper and 72pt type size and put up in every GM's office across the country.
Countsheep's got me curious on the personality who said that...this is P.E.I....there are no secrets ;D Wasn't me. I've still got the receipts at home from those years....yes I know...packius raticus.
