I've seen hundreds of Rocket games, but this was one of the most exciting ever, regular season or playoffs.
I've always said that hockey gets a lot better once you have crunchy snow on the ground, and there you are.
Final score Rocket 5, Remparts 4, before a crowd of 10,332 at Le Colisée.
The story was Marc-Antoine Gélinas, 57 saves on 61 shots, including many of the 'Oh-my-God-how-did-he-stop-that' variety.
Rocket trailed 1-0 early in the first, and 2-1 after one.
Then it was 3-1 Remparts, then 4-2, before Mo scored on a penalty shot with no time left in the second period, a period in which the Rocket was outshot 22-7, and completely outplayed.
Still, Rocket Pk looked good, spearheaded by Kana and Lachaine.
Southorn had an excellent game, and Gervais and Main were very good also.
In the third, Gélinas kept the Rocket in the game until Walker tied it on a PP goal with 4 minutes left.
Then Gélinas made three point-blank saves in the last minute, and with 14 seconds left, Rocket managed a faceoff in the Remparts' zone, and Coach Guy called a timeout.
Walker kept the puck in at the blue line, Morrison deflected it behind Roy, and Rocket scored the game-winning goal with 3 seconds left.
Amazing win, players were celebrating on the ice at the end.....Rocket players, of course.
MAG was first star of the game - again!
Gotta tighten things up a bit, though - Rocket aren't going to win too many games playing firewagon hockey.
We got ourselves a goalie, folks!

I give all the credits to the rockets, but how can this game be exciting for the visiting team?
Got dominated all game long and had the chance to play against an inexperienced team and a goalie that shouldn't play in the league.
Congrats to PEI.

My friend, there's never been much excitement around the Rocket around here, and we play at a rink called The Morgue, where most of the fans sit there like statues. So we take the wins and the excitement wherever we can, and to beat the Remps like this at the Colisée before a big crowd is as good as it gets.

That makes a team stronger.. If u get out played that bad and u end up winning the game it brings the team closer. Imo the Rocket will play much closer hitting game coming into the second half of the season. When u get out played and your goalie faces 60 shots the players see to look back and say we did get out played but we did find a way to win the game also we dug deep and played hard to get the goals. And they will realize that when they look back at the game.

Rocket actually did not play badly, and handled the transition and end-to-end stuff fairly well.
But it's just not their style, especially not against a fast and talented team like the Remparts.
Remparts, like Halifax, need goaltending.

Congrats to the Rocket on the amazing comeback...penalty shot at the 20 min. mark of the second, and the winner at 19:56 of the third.... obvious to see that the team doesn't know the meaning of it's in the bag, or we give up...has the turn around been due to players having the chance to jell as a team, or is it because they play for the new coach more than they did for Jean...either way they seem to be headed in the right direction.

Thanks for the recap, an enjoyable read.
The "firewagon" style may not yet be the Rocket style of hockey but they really only began to concentrate on a fast transition and attack offense in the past couple months. There was and continues to be work to do to improve. I'll take the faster pace of the game any day over what we had been watching which was often simply forcing the play to the neutral zone and looking for a break or mistake.
We are giving up too many shots lately. In December while going 5 and 2 on average we were out shot 41-28. In November we were 5 and 4 and on average were out shot 32 - 31.
Our Goal tending is picking up but we are giving up significantly more chances. If our defense improves as our Goal tending and offense has over the past two months I think we're in for some pretty entertaining hockey in the second half.
It remains to be seen who will be left or who has arrived by January 8th though.

I find it hard to believe that, after giving up 61 shots on goal, of which 23 were dangerous, anyone could claim that any of our defence played well. They were lucky to have not gotten blown out. If Desfosses had been between the pipes for the Remparts, we would probably be complaining about a Rocket loss this morning. Gelinas, in what appears to be a common occurrence, was stellar in nets, and the only reason that the Rocket even had a chance in this game

The Remparts are incredibly skilled, offensively, and this was much in evidence all game long.
Fast out of their own zone, great passing in the offensive end, very good playmaking.
Esposito and Lacroix each had 9 shots, Sauvé had 6, and Tessier, Petit, and 3 others had 5 each....that's 49 shots between 6 players!
Rocket still played well, against an awesome offensive dynamo; their penalty killing and transition game were very good, and after they blew an extended 5-on-3 in the first period, they made the most of their opportunities.
Great win to build on after Christmas!

Indeed we are skilled. There was also Stefanovich missing. Sauvé is being traded for Gilbert and Monast (next year) Lacroix is a 20yo and I hope he gets traded so the kids gets more ice. I think experience won that game, something we can't buy with our 11 rookies on the ice. I would like to have Gervais or Lessard at 20 yo next year
