Shawinigan Moncton Rd_2, #37, 2014 Moncton Shawinigan Rd_3, 2015 (Que) & Rd_2, 2016 the trade to get a second round pick in '14. Corson Crazy...trading a 2nd and 3rd round pick to draft a kid that should have gone in the 5th or 6th round. Cats sure love to throw away draft picks. I wonder how good the team could be if they just stop making trades, drafting longshot US players and just drafted the best player available in each round the last 5 years? How many early round picks traded away the last 5 years plus how many were used on non-reporting players? Also a lot of them were on players the team gave up on pretty quick...Trudeau Flinn Gagne that ended up playing well for somebody else.

2015
2 - Mika Cyr (Somehow survived the yard sale) 3 - Michael O'Leary (No show - Gone at 17) 3 - Ethan Crossman (Gone at 16) 3 - Alex Lavoie (We'll see) 4 - Jonathan Aspirot (We'll see) 5 - Jeremy McKenna (We'll see)
2014
2 - Noah Corson (25GP - 2Pts) 3 - Liam Murphy (So that's what potential looks like) 4 - Luke McInnis (Thanks for showing up) 5 - Marcus Tesink (39GP) 5 - Sebastian Dupre (At least we traded him for a guy that was older and with worse numbers)
2013
3 - Adam Holwell (Hey, we got a keeper!) 5 - Alex Jacob (34GP - Gone at 18)
2012
2 - Gabriel Gagne (Gone at 16 - but hey Danault put us over the top!) 3 - Tanner McCabe (3GP - Gone at 18) 3 - Josh Pugsley (64GP - 15Pts - Might aswell put him on the all star team next to Corson) 4 - Stephen Johnson (Thank god, this was getting ugly) 4 - Liam Hynes (28GP - Gone at 18) 5 - Alex Mann (2GP) 5 - Zach Beaudoin (7GP - Gone at 18)
2011
1 - Brandon Shea (HAHAHAHA) 2 - Kris Hodge (20GP - Gone at 17) 3 - Maxim Pitre (Abducted by aliens?) 3 - Alex Centis-Jorge (4GP - Gone at 17) 4 - Julien Beliveau (7GP) 4 - Jordan Labbe (5GP) 5 - Jack Flinn (Gone at 17 without playing a game, made himself a decent career in OHL)
I don't want to ruin anyone's day but that's pretty fuckin' sad right there.

It's a combination of bad trades and bad drafting. Imagine drafting well plus good late rounders, Euros and FA's. If you have a good base THEN add Kosack Klima(s) Garland Weiderer Johnston Sweeney(traded a FA for him) Mooney...

The years before were not much better. I said 4-5 years ago that this team had a problem scouting/drafting/developing players (or a combination of these). That was why I got rid of my season tickets (which I have had for over 10 years). I now go to 2-3 games a year and that's it. The situation has not gotten any better since then.

The victo pick is pretty sexy until they draft Pierre Marc Guimauve from the Murray Corner Honkers because he's a local guy. Then Neil Hodge will suck him sideways all summer cause he put up a point per game in the Rallye Motors Rexton League. Something to look forward to, anyway.

Neither was drafting Crossman and convincing a 16 yr old to give up his ncaa scholarship to play for the WC and then eventually trading him due to both sides impatience with his development and ice time , the stink is still on all concerned on that one.
Is there a pattern coming to light here ??

Would it be possible that we have a coach who does not like to develop players, he d rather bring some in that make him look like he s a greatttt coach ... Would it be possible he s the reason players want out .

The issue is they make big promises to bring guys in and there isn't enough room for all the promises...so to speak...

Would it be possible he s the reason players want out . I think Rumble is a good coach. The issue is they make big promises to bring guys in and there isn't enough room for all the promises...so to speak... And sometimes those "promises" are heard differently by the player and his family than what is intended. A "promise" that a young prospect will be given every opportunity to play on the top 2 lines, or even just on the team, for example, is exactly that - the opportunity to do something. It's conditional on the player putting in the work, following the training regimen and diet, and ultimately, producing on the ice. There are all kinds of reasons why the player might not live up to expectations - we can't forget these are teenagers, no matter how skilled, living away from home, etc., etc., etc. Crossman, just to pick a recent example, by all accounts, wanted a change of scenery, after being "promised" certain things that weren't delivered. It doesn't look like he's having much more success in Quebec than he was in Moncton. Brandon Shea is another player who was unhappy here, was traded (again to Quebec, interestingly), and again, did not have any more success than he did in Moncton. Sometimes a player who has always been at the head of their team, doesn't make the adjustment to the next level, and it can be a convenient excuse to say they weren't given the opportunity. I'm sure there ARE cases like that, but we can't assume that is the case every time a young prospect (or their family) is unhappy with where they're at.

When you start giving up on 16 year olds at Christmas the following year, it's not a good sign, no matter how you slice it. As I said earlier, maybe instead of making big promises, get local(Quebec and Atlantic) kids that just want to play instead of trying(and failing miserably) to be the London Knights.

In fairness Jack Flinn was traded so the Cats could select Barbashev and I don't think any of us will argue with that. Also, in fairness... Nope that's it. Just awful. Absolutely awful. It's actually impressive in a way the Cats have been as good as they are this season considering that 2012 class should be your core 19 year olds this season. Instead it's a dumpster fire. Like Billy mentioned just imagine if you added those good free agent finds on top of even just above average drafting. You can't pin those drafts on the Shannon regime, but with the way he's been throwing away and wasting draft picks it doesn't appear to be getting any better.

I find is ability to find F/A incredible, he certainly has found some great ones. but the trades are a joke, we over pay for everything, and I think we have draft requirement player can not be over 5.11.

Maybe they can start throwing draft picks in with the season ticket packages. I could use someone to take my kids to all the afternoon games I can't go to.
