Rumour out of Miramichi is that Chris Owens has been asked to join the Rocket for the rest of the season. Move would make sense now that Clow is gone.
If true, Owens will need to make a decision of ice time in Jr.A or rolling the dice with the Rocket.

If true, I'm not surprised at all.
Rocket need to find 1 more D, and by calling up Chris it's an easy find.
As you said, Chris will need to decide on what he wants.
Owens stats to date: 36-GP 1-G 31-A 32-Pts
39-PIM
18yrs old. 5' 10 185lbs

If Owens joins the Rocket I feel he will be put in the number 5 slot... he won't get the Clow role, if he does and plays well it helps us for next year

By bringing in Owens with only a couple of days left before the trading period ends, does that mean that Rocket won't be trading for an experienced defenseman? If the plan was to trade for another defenseman, would they still call-up Owens?
If Owens is called up, I hope they actually use him when he is dressed and not have him only play a handful of shifts a game. Would hate to see them call someone up who was playing regularly and then not play him.

or maybe the Rocket are actually going to deal a defenseman... Lessard or gervais.... and Owens is being brought in to replace them?
doubtful I know but something to consider

Owens is one of the top 5 d-men in the MJAHL and plays a ton for Miramichi, I'm sure he could help you a bit offensively and eat up some minutes that Malouin Clow or Deighan may not be ready for....that being said with prices being what they are uyou guys should move Lafleur Morrison and Lessard(assuming Ottawa is signing him) and set up for a run next year.

I agree with Billy and have been saying the same all along. But I am afraid it may be looking like other years where there doesn't seem to be a long term building plan and the short term plan is to go with what we have and hope the Rocket can win a round or two this season.

He's a defenseman so it's not that uncommon... probably a sign that he doesn't have a great shot but is intelligent moving the puck and placing it for good rebound opportunities.

I can see Owens joining the Rocket but if he is only there to replace Clow I cant see him staying , he is playing at least 30 mins a game with the twolves and cant see him giving that up to play 2 or 3 mins a game with the Rocket... After watching him a lot this year I would say he is in the top 5 dmen (as was stated here already) in the mjahl , his specialty seems to be on the PP , he sees the ice very well and that is why he has so many assists , great playmaker , and he has a decent shot as well.
It is going to be a tough decision for him for sure , especially when the wolves are so thin on d and preparing to make a good run at the championship , Currie is making a lot of good deals this year to try and win it all and the team is looking like they could win it .....I wouldnt want tomake that decision ....

personally I think that this is just a rumour , no substance at all .... Owens picked up another two assists today , the wolves beat the slammers 5-2...
