Really good overall summary. I agree with the main point, being that so many guns, and ease of access to them, escalates the crime or suicide rates beyond where they could be.

They really need to lower the number of guns first and foremost (outlaw, buy back etc) and then stricter gun regulations will make the US a much safer country.

Well, Republicans won't even entertain the idea of banning a weapon like the AR-15, so they are a massive part of the problem. And I have never seen any credible comment from a Democratic lawmaker about taking all the handguns away from everyone.

And please - enough with Chicago. It's already been explained that most of the weapons brought into the city are coming from Indiana, where it is simple to get weapons. Plus, there will always be some pockets that defy the norms, especially in poor communities.

The US had an assault weapons ban from 1995 to 2003, it was put in place by Bill Clinton and the GOP let it lapse instead of renewing it thanks to big NRA donations. Mass shootings went down 37% during those years.

I have mentioned this 2-3 times, most of the weapons in Chicago are bought in Indiana where they have some of the most lax gun laws in the US. Again, just because a law won't fix every problem doesn't mean it's useless. This is like saying we should not make seatbelts mandatory since people will still die in car accidents!!!!

So I suppose it is Indiana's gun laws which are the reason for Baltimore's violent crime rate which is even worse than Chicago's?

Again, nobody is suggesting that changing one law will fix all the problems in the US, but it's a better approach than just doing nothing like Trump has.

It would have been unconstitutional to do by executive order but she definitely would have tried and had she been elected she would have gotten to nominate the SC justice to replace Scalia instead of Trump who got Gorsuch in - guarantee you she would have nominated some left wing judge who wouldn't have gave a shit about the 2nd amendment.

Sen. Chuck Grassley says Congress needs to concentrate on how people with "mental reasons for not being able to handle a gun" are able to get them.

Meanwhile...

Sen Grassley was the lead Senate sponsor of a bill to make it easier for mentally ill people to buy guns -- it was a standalone bill; that's all it did.

It passed Congress a year ago today, and Pres. Trump signed it into law.

What's wikileaks opinion on Trump blaming the kids who got shot for not reporting it to police beforehand?

This was in the emails of her campaign, you can certainly make the point that the emails were obtained in a shady manner , you cannot dispute what was in the emails.
