Overall, I am quite satisfied with the coverage Neil Hodge provides the Wildcats. It is not the most hard hitting journalism, and can be a cheerleaderish at times, but the same can be said of the entire T & T publication - for all its flaws, in my opinion, it remains the most complete source of local coverage. Obviously not the level of journalism found in the Globe and Mail, but they are two different beasts, each with their role to play IMO. From what I understand we have some of the best coverage in the entire Q. The majority of the Maritime teams don't have near the coverage that the Cats get and most of them don't even have reporters travelling to away games. Sometimes the cheerleading gets to be a bit much, but realistically we should be thankful that the team gets the amount of coverage that it does.

He does a great job covering the Wildcats. He is passionate about them. Talk to him often in Bathurst at the games and he tells it how he sees it.

A little bit of truth properly worded would be nice, I hate hearing that every choice the Wildcats make the team can't that this player was still available even in the 10th round, do they really think that most hockey fans are that stupid? I don't want them to criticize the player but just leave it alone. and try not exaggerate it, we are please with our choices, not that they can't believe this player was still available, he was chosen in a certain round because that is where is talent was rated. Love the truth, as most of us do not follow midget hockey so we want to hear from those you do, but please try and tell us the truth.

To be fair, that is not usually Hodge making those comments ... he is interviewing someone from the organization, usually Shannon, who is making outlandish claims ... Hodge is just reporting what he is being told. It is not an opinion column - he usually offers very few opinions of his own in his articles, as it is not his job.

Why, well the WC owner RKI is a CO CEO of JDI Inc in Saint John and the Irving Media conglomerate who employs The illustrious sports reporter is under JDI umbrella. Like the rest of us, Mr. Hodge needs a paycheque, he is still employed there which means he still has the confidence of JDI in meeting corporate objectives. To those of us who think there is an objectively and balance conflict of interest, redress is quite simple- don't read Hodge' s musings and I don't.

Yes, and a credible sports reporter who isn't on the Irving payroll would ask/ inquire on that very subject. Whether the question would be answered in any degree of depth is debatable for sure but the question would be posed by a reporter/analyst who has no ties to the Irving corporation

If Shannon doesn't want to answer questions then Hodge should be reporting that questions were asked and dodged.
