With the lack of any powerhouse teams this year and Irving's apparent stance on "selling", I'd be surprised to see the Cats sell at the trade period. Why go through the crazy rebuild last year only to half ass it this year? That makes no sense.

Well they've already proved that they aren't doing a "traditional" rebuild. They have a much older team than you would normally ice during the first year of a rebuild. They used assets to bring in a good 19yo goalie that could possibly not be around next year. Although, he could be traded to recoup those assets, Waite's injury history may force them to keep him. They got two 20yo dmen back as futures instead of getting good young players back which is usually the norm. To me this looks like they just want to have a competitive team every year like we've seen post 2010

To me this looks like they just want to have a competitive team every year like we've seen post 2010 I agree, I think it is the wrong approach, but they seem to be happy just trying to be competitive every year, that's fine if you want to maybe win a playoff round or two and consider it a pretty good year, but you will never compete for a memorial cup or even QMJHL title with that way of thinking. Teams like SJ and Halifax did it and still do it the right way, sure you have a couple of down years and sometimes that second year you surprise a bit, but you build towards the future. At the TDL we should definitely be selling Tessier, Welsh, Dunda, Grametbauer etc. to the highest bidder, I am not saying give them away like we did with Desjardins and others in the past, but keep the bidding going until you get a great offer.
