Nice. I wonder if they will do the Alpines jerseys(95-96 version)? That would be great.

The purpose of these nights tends to be to honour something that the local community looks back on fondly - championship teams, etc. The Alpines are not a proud chapter in franchise history, they were poorly run on and off the ice, had a small fan base, and I suspect there is very limited public appetite to honour them, spend money on commemorative jerseys etc. For all intents and purposes, the franchise was born when Irving bought the team and re-branded it as the Wildcats - other than a few players left over, the Alpines left little behind of value.

They should wear a Beavers jersey too. They won a few championships in the 90's

I think we should be pretty happy they are pulling this off. I'm pleasantly suprised!

Will it be the Moncton Hawks (early 90's) or the New Brunswick Hawks (end 70s-early 80s)?

Good Point. They did when a championship when they were the Midland Hawks at the Coliseum. RKI would have been the owner then too. Maybe these will be the jerseys they are wearing?

I'm not sure you are correct on that. RKI was never the "owner" but was the major sponsor ... ownership was always a questionable thing back then. My father was GM of that team for several years ... I'll ask him but he probably doesn't recall the details now being 84.

Steve is correct . The Team was run by a volunteer board of directors and was basically a community owned and operated franchise operating in the Metro Vallet Junior Hockey League, which became the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League . We did win a league championship under the coaching of Jamie Kennedy and Billy Riley . The team was known as the Moncton Midland Hawks and was sponsored by Midland Transport, which Robert K Irving was the President and a very passionate sponsor . We advanced against the Summerside Western Capitals for the Maritime title .

We did the regular season , but I can remember playing the League finals in Memramcook against Halifax ( Bottomley ) and then facing Summerside. We picked up Halifax’s goaltender ( Troy Crosby ) . Turned out to be the father of Sidney Crosby .
