Well after an extremely disappointing 2nd half the final regular season game in the coliseum has arrived
Looking like this one will be a sell out as there's only singles left in the lower bowl & the far corners in the upper bowl. Likely the last time us long time fans get to enjoy a big crowd as I'd expect small crowds for the playoffs barring a Friday night game 5 against Rimouski.
At this point I think we've all but accepted the Cats fate for the season but I'm hoping for an entertaining game to show off that a full coliseum can be a loud place to play.
Should be a full lineup tonight other than Cyr.

Yup indeed. It will be our last night sitting as STH in section eleven mid way down, started in 2003. It will be different walking out of there tonight after 15 years but looking back amongst the ups and downs it has been a slice for sure. We didn’t do playoffs this season as not doing a renew at the new spot but will take in a few games next year for sure, flex tickets. Following year will take stock to see how it all went.

Speaking of Dumont, for what reason would he ever have to pull goalie in a 7-2 game? I checked standing you are 5 points behind Gatineau ( not catching them). Was it to try and stay ahead of Baie Comeauby trying for the win? It seemed utterly foolish.

This guy is in his own world.

Really greasy push by Roy after the Pelletier breakaway goal, that could have been a lot worse. Just completely unnecessary. Same guy who tries to fight Welsh after a hit as clean as it gets, getting really tired of that in hockey, at least Pataki stepped in. No need for Welsh to bother with a player of that quality.

They were after Pelletier all game, MacDougall also got 5 for running him into the boards. Instead of showboating, Seitz should have gone after somebody.

According to Pelletier, he’s not injured. That’s what he told Neil Hodge after the game.

Let’s not forget which team ended Mika Cyr’s season way too early ! Definitely a pattern , and it starts from the leadership behind the bench .

Entertaining game, especially when CB made fools of themselves third period and Wildcats ran the score up to 9 goals. Can’t remember if they ever ran the score up that high this past season. No doubt fans got a kick out of tonight’s episode, the ones around us sure did.

Was it to try and stay ahead of Baie Comeauby trying for the win? It seemed utterly foolish. I think he was sending a message to his two goaltenders that had played poorly ... whether that was right or wrong. This reminds me of a story ... gather around ... I remember many years ago my father was the Coach of the Midget Flyers (called the Moncton Century Flyers back then). They were in the Provincial championship tournament in Saint John. They had to beat Fredericton by 6 goals to qualify for the final ... due to the tie-breaker rules they had in place back then (1976 I think). They had no trouble beating Fredericton all year so once they got to a four goal lead in the 2nd, he would pull his goaltender on PPs and when he got the line matchups that he wanted. They ran the score up to 8 goals before the end of the period and Fredericton had scored only once in the empty net. After the 2nd period, there were fans (parents) from the opposing team banging on the dressing room door saying they were making a mockery of the game and embarassing these kids. Tournament organizers came to the room and demanded that he play his goaltender, but he basically laughed at them and said "you guys made these foolish tie-breaker rules that force me to do this to get ahead." Fredericton scored again early in the 3rd to cut the difference to 6 so he pulled the goaltender again early in the 3rd to restore the cushion that they needed ... they won by 7. The Fredericton fans were furious ... and after the game the entire team left all together and the Coach and his stickboy son (me) were in the middle of the group, protected from the angry Fredericton parents. We also had a 6'4" asst Coach on our team that was over 300 lbs and he helped keep the Fredericton riff-raff away. Ahhh good memories ... I'm probably remembering the details a little incorrectly but that was the sense of what happened. They lost in the final to a very good Dalhousie, NB team and a very biased Referee. There was another Flyer's Coach (Scott Farrell) who I think encouraged his players to throw a game in a Provincial tournament so they'd get a more favourable semi-final matchup ... can't recall the details but he was banned from Coaching because of it.

Never thought I would read about Scott Farrell ever again. He was teaching at Moncton High School at the time. I was one of his students. When the story went public of what happened, many of us found a way to poke fun. Detentions were at an all-time high. There was this one day he wanted some participation from us. He asked a question and got "I don't know, but maybe you should pull the goalie" as an answer from one of the class clowns. Haven't laughed so hard in my life.

I don't get the all the attention about pulling the goaltender in the middle of the third on the PP, other than it is uncommon. It was 7-2. Down by 5 or down by 6 means nothing. However, you score on the PP, make it a 4 goal game, knowing that Moncton has defensive issues, who knows ... we can give up goals in a hurry.
I, fearing more cheap shots, was happy to have as many PP for either side at that point, because you usually have less occasion to do something stupid.
Although these types of games are getting rarer, or it seems that way since we are, more often than not, on the other end of loop sided scores, that is a night where missing a Dunda-like player stands out. A fight between two heavyweights last night might have saved a lot of foolish/risky play.
