I’m a bit disappointed they didn’t move Friday games to 7:30. Would give everyone getting off work some extra time to get downtown and it’s not a school night so there’s really no downside with it being slightly later.

Maybe they should do pre season games at coliseum instead of 4 plex?

Maybe they should do pre season games at coliseum instead of 4 plex? The coliseum won't have any ice in it. Scary to think what the ice quality would even be in august if it did have ice. The 4 plex is more than suitable as a preseason facility.

I wouldn't be surprised if they play their pre-season games at the new center. You would want to work out the bugs in the rink during pre-season and not wait until opening night.

They may play one there. With the Mooseheads on a 15 game road trip to start the year, they play 2 games in Moncton before the Moose even play 1 home game, I'll probably head up for at least 1 of those 2 games.

I'm sure they'll have practices, seems kind of overblown to me. Don't think having 1 or 2 meaningless games at the rink will make much difference when players and teams are still working on their systems that time of year. On the business side making the home opener the first time hockey fans can see the rink is a better decision and should lead to sellout, possibly trickling into the sunday game being a sellout for the family types who can't make it Friday night. You can test all of your equipment, video/sound during the day, you don't need fans in the building to do so. The employees working a lot of the concessions/security/ticketing will have had plenty of practice during the first few concerts that occurred as many of them are employed by SMG.

They will have all the kinks worked out, and have dry runs with the players for sound and audio before the home opener...personally I like the fact they won’t play a game in the rink until the home opener, makes it that much more special!! When Edmonton got their new rink they played preseason games and it’s like meh for home openers and first few games..this way it will all be a first time for fans..
