A big congratulations to the Titan on their impressive Memorial Cup win, they join the ranks with Saint John and Halifax from the Q great to see for sure. Guess the trades/acquisitions made over past couple of years paid off and certainly positive for Holwell, Murphy, Crossman and Malatesta(D).

Maybe the Cats front office will finally look at how Bathurst(and Halifax and SJ) built Memorial cup winners...drafting and patience, not shortcuts and free agents!

Yep, quite obvious those franchises did indeed do something right, never know Halifax may repeat with a MC win this coming season being the host city. Yes perhaps a new direction in philosophy could be upon us this season with a new GM and facility. Coach Rumble is going to be on a very short leash this upcoming season and Irving will want a better finish than 14th.

I hope the Q repeats for sure as we should have two real good teams in Halifax

You could add Chisholm and Ivan who were drafted by the Titan.

hehe when you look at it this way it means we really made a lot of tremendous trades with a lot of drafted assets or picks involved and speaking of Ducharme he could have a breakout season coming .. the speed of both him and Crossman is fun to watch ... Ivan turned out to be a great pick and Chisholm if not traded should have a pretty decent season

Congrats to Acadie-Bathurst. Was a great game and they deserved the cup better than the others. Thank god Hamilton did not make the final as they could have won. but that leaves PEI, CB and Moncton as not winning the cup yet.

Bathurst was not as "home grown" as Halifax and SJ, but they spent years drafting and developping players plus adding picks/prospects until the last 2 years. Even a lot of the guys they traded for they did so at a young age like Truchon-Viel, L'italen, Pickard(who turned into Fitzpatrick) and there are others... It's not just having assets to play, you also need them to be able to make trades. Before you can make a bunch of "go for it" trades, you need to accumulate assets, not just have 3 picks in the top 5 rounds.

I think Bathurst built that team by emptying the cupboards. You first needs to stock the cupboards before you can empty them. Plus, adding Galipeau Rubtsov and Balmas if you have a shitty team won't win you a title. It's a process you have to play through, not just decide to make 3-4 trades and win. We will know that in a week, but right now the Cats don't have cupboards to empty.
