I heard you guys are getting Kyle Jessiman from us at the draft. Didn't hear any word on return That makes little sense unless Grametbauer gets traded also. Or this signals that we are loading up for a run....

He played behind a pretty porous defensive team, he's actually a pretty good goalie. Mandolese also had pretty bad numbers and he will be one of the top goalies drafted in June.

I wonder if it's coming.. we have picks as far as 1sts go along with mackenna, Pelletier and MacDonald as futures.... I hope not but if we loaded up it wouldn't surprise me.

I heard their plan is to build towards 2020. Maybe that explains adding a guy like Jessiman...I wonder if Grametbauer would help Halifax?

I'm just sharing news coming my way from Quebec. I have very little contacts so don't know what kind of value this actually holds. Just know I haven't read it anywhere.

Even if your aiming for 2020 would he be good enough to warrant keeping as a 20? Right now they have guys like Cyr, McKenna, Aspirot and Seitz who would all be possible options for those 3 spots.

The draft is still 14 rounds which is weird since they added the last two rounds for drafting Americans essentially. I think adding an American draft separately only penalizes teams and will likely lead to less Americans coming in to the league. It's weird that they wouldn't have talked about it if true. Saw this from an article in Le Droit: link"Sear a aussi indiqué qu’il s’attendait à repêcher un joueur américain lors d’une séance spéciale de sélection le 4 juin prochain." Sounds like there is going to be a 2 round draft for Americans held on June 4

I wouldn’t mind adding a local defenseman for depth.
Maybe Dominic Hachey (Charlottetown - 2016 6th round pick) or Alex Wynter (Rimouski - 2017 9th round pick).

I guess if you draft 2 on Saturday you can probably pass on the Monday picks if you want...

Great to see today's article....
"wildcats looking to make trades"
We want to retool our plan to be good every year
We expect to be in the top part of the standings this year
I think the not mortgaging the future is a passifier.... if they don't make big trades at the draft I bet at xmas they say we feel so confident in this group we felt we have to make a run for it...
and just to stir the pot.... for everyone saying that roger Shannon was to blame for this being good every year philosophy and not doing a proper rebuild.... New (interim) GM and the same message..... sooooo it obviously comes from the man himself.....

New (interim) GM and the same message..... sooooo it obviously comes from the man himself..... The "being good every year" thing is perpetual mediocrity usually. Without proper rebuilds, it's hard to get star players and in junior you win with stars. The truly stupid part of that philosophy is that they won championships in 2006 and 2010 by "loading up" not just trying to be "good every year". If you are a well run team(not having Shannon as GM), fans will support you when you are rebuilding, especially if you make moves to get high upside 16 and 17 year olds to build around. It was easier to watch last year because they had Pelletier on the roster, that would not have happen had they not "sold" in 16-17.
