I hope this is the beginning of more of this cross league preseason stuff...i think is an awesome idea that i wish the CHL would do more of..I truly hope that because we have the new arena we have a NB preseason tourney, Saint John,Bathurst Moncton and OHL team...i doubt we get a WHL team out here, but would be amazing to have this type of tourney and then Halifax, Cape Breton and Charlottetown with OHL or W team..Call it Atlantic Showcase

That is why they cancelled the rookie tournaments this year.

You would think it would be cheaper to have all 6 teams in a central location for 3-4 days than having each team hold camp then travel for games...but maybe not...would like to see the numbers...

I agree...it’s weird, I would think having a Maritime rookie showcase that lives from city to city with all 6 teams would be cheaper then place to place, but mind you as i’m Typing then teams don’t need rooms for 6-7 days for 50 some players..it might be cheaper to drive and go home after games..lol
I just like the idea of OHL team, cause it gives us a few of other teams that we don’t get live unless we get Mem Cup here.
Should be fun camp though either way...and the preseason tourney in Kitchener is just one weekend

Bus and driver would be minimum $1,000 per day, meals probably wash out or close, but the hotels for players and staff would be an extra expense ...

Bus and driver would be minimum $1,000 per day, meals probably wash out or close, but the hotels for players and staff would be an extra expense ... I think most teams would rather have each game a day trip ... no hotel stays. In training camp they can have 35 kids that might play in one of two games on a weekend. If they are coming to a tournament to play three games ... they probably bring 35 kids they want to have a look at ... plus staff. Thats two nights in a hotel for that full crew ... plus extra meals they don't normally cover. If you travel individually for each game you just bring say 22 players and staff ... no hotel stay ... cover lunch and dinner. If you have dorm rooms then that cuts the cost. But not every team can swing that type of arrangement. The Q just shut the whole thing down. I'm sure Moncton could host another one if they worked out the logistics and had agreement from a few other teams. I think the Q was just not going to force teams to participate.

Most people aren't going out of their way to watch pre-season CHL games or tournaments at the end of the summer. Probably get no more fans then you would a Q game between 2 local teams. It's a tough sell that time of year for the caliber you're seeing.
