That being said, the question then is, do you move a few of your OA and 19 year olds at midseason? I think in order to win this year they would need to make 4-5 big trades, so if you assume they want to win next year or the one after, what deals can be made to get there and are they willing to do it? Too soon to decide, IMO. Need to see how our team comes together, and how the rest of the league looks. When I look at our forward crew, I see a group that could be among the best in the league ... but our blueline scares me ... and how will our goaltending stand up? I don't see our OAs, barring major breakouts, having much trade value at mid-season ... if we make trades involving OAs, IMO, it is more likely to be to upgrade (if we surpass first half expectations), or perhaps a lateral move to re-balance the team (i.e. if we end up with big problems on the back end, and tons of depth up front, as projected, perhaps we end up moving out Pataki and bringing in an OA d-man mid-season to stabilize the back end) ... True, but you have to be careful not to overrate your team based on a good or bad start. I think seeing that Halifax and Drum are already strong and willing to go all in, plus having it a host year, I would want to avoid paying huge prices for veterans this year. They have already paid a big price for guys like MacDonald and Sylvestre and the defense doesn't look close to championship level. Plus you have the big MacDonald cloud over the team, if he isn't a guy who will give you 30 goals and they plan on trading him, that's another hole to fill.

My only 'want' for this year is for them to give the fans some sort of plan. Anything. Quit shuffling deck chairs and make some decisions. - Are they going all in to compete with Halifax and Drummondville? - Are they building for next year when Cyr, McKenna, Aspirot are your potential 20's? If not do you move them now? What's your plan to compete with Rimouski in Lafrenniere's final season? - Are they lining up for Pelletier's 19yo season in 2020? If so who is in that core? Are you banking on MacDonald being there as a 20? Spence also fits in this group as a 2001 - Are they now building around the 2018 class with Desnoyers, NKF, Lavallee? I just want a direction. Any direction and go with it. IMO, this season there are too many holes and the prices will be crazy, but I think they can contend next year with the right moves. In order to do that, you can't pass up trades at midseason where you can take a step back to take 2 forward for 19-20, and you have to play your 16 and 17 year olds. The big question next year remains on D and in nets.

The 3rd period Cats have arrived.
All of the rookies are looking out there. Desnoyers has been one of the most dangerous players on the ice.

Desnoyers looked really good tonight, he will be a really solid Q player at 18 I see it coming. Seems to have lots of potential.
Also Spence was really solid on the back end, was impressed by his play all game. De Jong played good as well

Same here, good showing from all 3 guys. I was surprised by Foreman, for a guy who was an 11th round pick in his 2nd Q game he seems really composed and didn't look out of place at all.

Definitely have to give credit where credit is due. The scouting department finding De Jong was a job well done.

Aspirot and Khovanov have been sent back.
Hopefully they can be in the lineup for Sunday's game.

Khovanov is still in Minnesota camp injured as per Michael Russo Good catch. Shot in the dark here, but I'll say it's nothing to be worried about.
