Interesting GDT. First one I've ever seen without a single comment about the game itself, either pre or post game.

In terms of hockey..
I keep watching Desnoyers & Spence and wondering how the Cats got them so late. Desnoyers has been one of the best Cats forwards. I realize Spence is a year older but he's a top 4 ready defenceman whos quickly becoming the powerplay QB. Not sure how that type of player falls to the 2nd round when defense is typically slow to develop.
De Jong is a nice pickup as well.

Didn't Bathurst want to draft Spence in the first round but he said he wouldn't show? I seem to remember that being a thing. Maybe he just wouldn't report most places? He did have a phenomenal rookie season in Junior A so he might have had some College options.

I love the new building. NHL feel with Junior size. The sound of the puck hitting the glass and boards is muffled by the open space of the Arena. Just like Quebec city and any NHL game I've been too. Some concessions were closed on Sunday for some reason that I can't understand for a crowd of 6,000. Other than a minor glitch of the debit machine being down at the poutine place it hasn't been too bad. They might want to close the outside doors to the roar store once the doors open. Alot of congestion at the store entrance on Friday, better on Sunday. Alot of trial and error until they get it all right. Now to the game. Has Pataki been suspended for his 5 min major for crosschecking?

Didn't think the Cats were terrible by any means on Sunday however glaring defensive mistakes (surprise!) cost them. Bad turnover by McKenna on the first goal, Maher left all alone with seconds remaining on the second goal and an odd man rush (surprise again!) which wasn't very well played on the fourth goal. Lots of mistakes against SJ too but they don't have the veteran talent that Halifax does.
The other negative I noticed is the complete lack of urgency when they had a power play late in the third. Looked like they were going in slow motion.
One thing I would say is that the forward group as a whole hasn't really gotten going yet. Which isn't either alarming or surprising given the shuffling of guys in and out of the line-up. They've seemed stuck in first gear for the most part. I don't expect that to last very long with the amount of talent up front.
Leclerc has been rock solid so far. No complaints with the goaltending.
Looking forward to tomorrow to see how they stack up against CB. This will really be the first game against a team that's in a similar tier to the Cats.

Defensive play was a major issue last year and looks the same this year, for a guy with a lot of experience, Rumble doesn't seem to be willing or able to have them play a tighter defensive game.
