We play in Quebec City tonight versus a mediocre Remparts squad. They are 11th overall with a record of 10-10-1-2 ... 0.500 %. 78 GF and 85 GA. PP is at 20.5% and PK is at 73.2%. In our conference they are sitting in 8th, and if the playoffs started today we'd match up with them in Rd 1. Too much hockey to be played to be considering that yet.
I noticed in the Times-Transcript that the headline said "Road Sweep" (something like that) yet we haven't quite finished this road trip. It is an odd scheduling as normally you might have a mid-week game and then two games on the weekend. We had the two games on the weekend but still have this one more to go before heading home.
We should win this game but the early success on this road trip might have them a little complacent.

I mean what they have 4 or 5 losses all season. I'm sure it could happen. It could also be hard to win because it's a long week for them and at this point if I'm the other team I want to beat them. They are making a good measuring stick of themselves. Great start for the Cats

They are making a good measuring stick of themselves. Great start for the Cats In the first few weeks of the season the team was a bit lazy and lost games because of it. I won't call that complacency but rather it was just a work ethic issue. We have seen them come out recently with poor first periods but often adjust for the 2nd and right the ship. In our first 5 games we were 2-3-0-0 and three of those five games were played versus Bat (1) and SJ (2). If I was to point to a game, it was a home loss to CB that they were just awful. That seems to have been a trigger game as from that point forward we have been fairly consistent ... just a few bad periods from then forward and no bad games.

Another great win. Good road trip for the team. On a good roll.
I’ve noticed Khovanov’s skating is much improved. He’s now become a real threat every shift.

If you aren't enjoying watching this team I don't know what to tell you. The Cats are locked in offensively right now with 3 scorers in the top 10 and 4 in the top 12.
Khovanov has really taken his game to another level in november with 7 goals in 8 games and 10 points on the 3 game 3 trip. Credit to Rumble so far as there was lots of talk about him being on a short leesh including from myself. Not many talking about that now.
No matter how you slice it 3-0 on a road trip is a huge success especially with a team like Baie Comeau as part of it.
Looking forward to the games on the weekend.

His skating was never a big issue, not at the junior level, he'll need to get faster for the NHL. His main issue is taking dumb penalties, him and Seitz take a ton of them. If the Cats didn't have a great PK it would cost them games.

He was noticeably slow and I see a huge improvement from last January to now. He also just looks more comfortable now that he has a year in with the team.
Regarding the penalties, I like when players play with an edge, as long as they don't cross the line when the games matter in April. A few dumb penalties in the some what meaningless regular season games I can live with.

His conditioning made him slow down in the 2nd half of shifts, that's not a skating issue per se. I have no issue with guys playing with an edge, but Khovanov often takes dumb penalties that have nothing to do with playing hard, doing stupid shit after the whistle and mouthing off at refs. He also gets too many stick fouls. He has 38 PIMs with zero fights, ridiculous. Pelletier plays as hard as anybody and he has 6 PIMs.

Your definition of a skating issue is different than mine. What you describe I call a conditioning issue which is to be expected after a lengthy illness. I think what mostly gets in his way is his tendency to take bad penalties. Also he is not the hardest worker but has improved on that this year from what we saw back in September and early October. He was hard to like back then, but his more recent play has started to grow on me.

Solid third period last night for the win. I didn't think that boarding call on Sylvestre warranted a major ... definitely a minor penalty was justified. I don't see any suspension coming from this.

Moncton has a nice 2 year window gives them flexibility but u can trust your team to compete as is if need be.

Moncton has a nice 2 year window gives them flexibility but u can trust your team to compete as is if need be. Could even be a 3 year window depending on what management decides to do. Pelletier, Spence, Desnoyers, Lavallee will all be still around at that point. (Not to mention a potential star drafted this year) My guess is they will all be used to speed up the rebuild, but that is a nice group of players to still have around for the 20-21 season. It would certainly be a long painful rebuild afterwards.

I think the opportunity with team Russia helped him realize what he can do a this level. He's been better with the penalties too although I think being on the road helped. It seems he gets called on reputation in the games we see at home with the Maritime referees and not as much with the Quebec referees.
