Interesting situation where the GM role is also vacant ... if the chosen coach is not also offered the GM job, it is hard to offer a lot of job security when their future boss is not yet in place ... If they are smart they hire a big name as coach and GM, let Thibeau be his assistant. Hepditch should be gone too, the defense is not improving. |

That just sounds weird...how can you "release" a head coach? By paying him to not coach any more. It's not complicated. There are many words to use for a firing/release/dismissal/re-assignment of a head coach. |

Unless they already have a lead on someone and the hold up in getting him hired as GM was that he wanted to coach as well ... Agree on Hepditch - I suspect he got a stay of execution, partly because they need someone to run the team until a new coach is found, partly out of loyalty to a young former player ... my guess is he won’t be back next year, and they will quietly decide not to renew his contract this summer - allow him to save face by spinning it that the new coach wanted his own guy as an assistant. |
