Stephane Paquette floats the possibility of the return of a former coach and mentions Ted Nolan, Danny Flynn, John Torchetti, or Real Paiement. Also mentions that Quebec sources have floated Aigles Bleus coach Judes Vallee's name. Article mentions that they would like to have a coach this week, but will wait if necessary, and that they would prefer a permanent coach but are open to considering someone for the rest of the season if necessary. I am very reluctant to use the word “ conspiracy “ theories but the names being floated around....... does anybody really believe this. LaRue appears to be left off this list from the past, way back in some cases. But whatever, carry on.

In Khovanov I see a waste of great talent. He has a huge ego and it is so easy to get inside his head and throw him off. Last week vs SJ (in Moncton), Robbie Burt scored and did Khovanov's wing flap celebration ... they exchanged words and jawed at each other for a bit. Next time they were out on the ice together Khovanov took a run at Burt and took a penalty. I called it before it happened ... you could see it coming from a mile away. Keeping this kid off the ice in key situations is the best idea. He takes too many stupid penalties and rarely ever gives you 100%. This kid is super talented but its all being wasted by his ego. He is terrible defensively because he is too nonchalant with the puck. His embellishments infuriate me. And the Refs give him no leeway on penalty calls because of it. Everybody was saying the same things about Conor Garland, care to take a gander at where he's excelling at now? So you're saying you'd keep one of your top scorers off of the ice when you badly need a goal? Glad you aren't coaching anywhere, if so then I feel sorry for that team unless it's Minor Hockey Yes, he can take unwarranted penalties just like every player his type does. And news flash in case you didn't figure it out yet, this type of player is much more common in today's hockey. They are emotional and only being 18 years old obviously these players take some grooming. But to say he doesn't give 100% and he shouldn't be on the ice in key situations is one of the dumbest things I've seen said about a player Where did I say that I wouldn't want him on the ice when we needed a goal? I don't want him on the ice when we are up by a goal for sure. But even when we need a goal I am terrified he'll take some stupid liberty when he is playing aggressively. As I said, I recognize his talent but he is also a major liability when his head isn't on straight. Plus the fact that Refs don't give him any leeway when he does something because of all the trash he has already done. He doesn't give 100% ... newsflash for you. He is the only player on this team that I worry about taking stupid penalties. I don't worry about a kid like Seitz nearly as much as do Khavonov. So if this type of player is so common, why don't we have a few more ? I don't think any Moncton fans said any of those things about Conor Garland ... it was all the rival fans. I enjoyed every minute of Conor Garland in a Wildcats uniform. He was never out headhunting anybody like Khavanov does. But being a small player he knew better. What Khovanov actually needs is for somebody to get pissed at him and start wailing away at him for something he does ... knock the chip off his shoulder.

Ted Nolan must not be a fan of the owner supposedly being in the dressing room during intermissions.

Surely to god we can do better than Ron Choules ... as for John Chabot, when was the last time he actually coached a team? What has he been up to? Eliteprospects.com last shows him as active in 2009/10 ... Not sure bringing in a coach who has not been involved in the game at any level of note in the past decade is a great idea - a lot has changed in hockey in the past 10 years.

Torchetti is the best choice ... Chabot would be good also. Choules ... No!!
Hmmm ... what about Fabian Joseph to finish out the year ?

This is beginning to look like an Acadie-Bathurst Titan coaching search ... does Irving know that he is allowed to interview someone other than past Wildcat coaches? Surprised we haven't heard Christian Larue or Tom Coolen's names yet ... just about every other former Cats coach has been mentioned.

Torchetti is the best choice ... Chabot would be good also. Choules ... No!! Torchetti by far out of that group ... not sold on Chabot since he appears to have been out of coaching for a long time ... and no thanks on Choules. Surprised no one is even speculating on local candidates ... perhaps because the Cats run a pretty tight ship in terms of information leaks and the local media is under their thumb and unlikely to speculate - unlike the Quebec media. But there are several interesting possibilities, to varying degrees ... JF Damphousse, Serge Bourgeois, Derek Cormier, Ryan Salvis ... and no doubt others. I would take any of them ahead of Choules.

Agree ... my comment was somewhat tongue in cheek where pretty much the only names being floated were former coaches (Nolan, Torchetti, Lacroix) ... not that any or all are bad candidates ... but just the apparent unwillingness to consider something new.

I do not believe they're looking at Choules as a potential candidate. JF Plante just thinks he should be in the mix.
Chabot would only be here for the rest of the year which is fine given the circumstances.

Does no one want to work for the Wildcats? After initially inidicating they hoped to have a coach in place this week, today's Neil Hodge article indicates that Hepditch will coach the team tomorrow night vs. R-N, and that it is anyone's guess how long he may be in charge. Also adds that Irving has not ruled out Hepditch as next coach, but continues to cast a wide net ... 9 months and counting with an interim GM ... and now an interim coach who looks like he may be around longer than originally thought. We seem to be making it hard on ourselves to hire hockey people ... most teams seem to find qualified candidates without too much difficulty.
