What are the chances he gets the GM job? I think he was GM last time too, right? Pretty sure he was. I think he brought in Phil Magnan. Yes he was. He had made some good (Bourdon to CB for Barberio and Brannon) and some not-so-good trades (Goyens).

Knowing what we know now I think we can tell who was really behind the decision to moderately buy with bringing in Lincourt and Goyens despite selling Bourdon that year.

I always liked Hepditch as a player so I hope he can succeed in his audition as a head coach, both for his benefit and the teams. He is inexperienced but every coach was at one point. The tough thing though is he is taking over during a tough stretch of games. The Cats play their next 10 games against teams with winning records including Halifax(x3) CB(x3) Charlottown(x2) Rouyn, and BC. It would be impressive to somehow go 6-4 during this stretch but given the teams recent success 5-5 should be viewed as a success. Hepditch was working with the D and they have not shown much improvement the last 1.5 years, so I won't hold my breath that he will be a good coach, I think he is only there until they find a coach.

Acadie Nouvelle (Stephane Paquette) reports that Ted Nolan, Daniel Lacroix and John Torchetti have "offered their services" - which conflicts previous reports re: Nolan not being interested. He also names Gordie Dwyer as having expressed interest (as did Neil Hodge), along with others with pro experience wishing to remain anonymous for the time being. He indicates things are moving quickly and the Cats could have an announcement as soon as Monday.

Can Ted Nolan function without Danny Flynn running X & Os ? Nolan was the master motivator. No thanks to Gordie Dwyer ... didn't really do anything in the Q and has been working in Europe with teams always under 0.500. I'll take Torchetti if I'm given the choice ... as Coach and GM.

My only hesitation with Torchetti is that he is unlikely to be here long ... for whatever reason, he has never laid down roots anywhere - if you look at his coaching career, he never stays in one place more than a year or two, then on to the next stop. Did a very good job in his first stint with the Cats, however ...

At this point I just want a guy that gets us to the end of this season. If he leaves then, we can undertake a full search for a new Coach/GM (one person).

If Torchetti takes the job, he would likely be coach and GM and sign for 3-4 years. Thibeau would likely stick as assistant Gm and head scout.

Wasn’t it a criticism of Torchetti that he had a hard time dealing with high school age kids, at least that is what I thought was floating around during his tenure.

That year he got more out the young players than any Wildcat Coaches I've seen and he would call them the next year after he left to see how they were doing. Seemed to be a players coach.

Well if that is true(and I am in no position to say it isn’t) tis nice to be corrected. Well then, perhaps this type of coach is what Dr. Irving needs to mend his teams health as there is certainly infection set in. Carry on!

From what I hear Torchetti is indeed the new coach.

From what I hear Torchetti is indeed the new coach. I assume they’ll announce him early next week then. Hopefully he can turn it around a bit, it’s an exciting hire for mid season for sure.
