Torchetti riding Leclerc again...so much for developing Lavallee... Very surprising he didn’t play against SJ. Instructions from above to screw development and try and get the best playoff positioning possible?

I’d imagine torchetti is just trying to get them on a roll plus they’ve lost the last 2 vs Saint John, if lavalee doesn’t start Tuesday plus a weekend game then I’d be a little concerned

I would have preferred to see Lavallee in net today as well.
On a positive note, Huntley has looked much better. Maybe he needed the ice time and be leaned on more. Or maybe just weaker opponents the last 2 games from what we have been seeing. And Desnoyers is looking to be really playing well, nice to see a 16 year old riding the top line

Torchetti riding Leclerc again...so much for developing Lavallee... I wish you were the GM! Things would be so much better around here!

It's beyond ridiculous to have a 16 year old kid and sit him for 5 weeks. They have 0% chance of missing the playoffs, makes no sense to coach every game like a game 7. Part of the reason they run out of gas in the 3rd against good teams is the ride the top 2 lines and top 4 D. Good teams in the Q lean on at least 3 and some have 4 lines playing regular.

There’s really no reason he couldn’t have played 7 games to end the season. Saint John 3x, Bathurst 2x and Victoriaville 2x. I don’t think they’d have ended up in any worse of a position for the playoffs and Lavallee could have gotten into 22 games this season while keeping Leclerc fresh.

We went through a long stretch of very tough games against tough opponents. There really was no place to start Lavallee. But we were losing most of those games, but not the fault of Leclerc at all. Lavallee had been pulled in several of his last bunch of starts and seemed to regress from his solid start to the season. I had figured that Torchetti would want to see everybody play and would have found him a start in there over the last 10 games ... but nope. I was very disappointed to see Leclerc in there on Sunday. But when a team is losing a shakeup is needed and so start the backup once in awhile ... challenge the kid against a strong opponent.
But I think Torchetti is trying to grab some winning momentum and build confidence in the team.
Lavallee should get 2 of the next 3 starts ... or all 3 if he does well in the first two. Give Leclerc the week off.
So now lets talk about next year. Leclerc will be gone but Lavallee is not ready to be the #1, especially if we are a contender. Do we go out and get a guy like D'Orio (or other 1999 born) and take advantage of the new 20 YO goaltender rule ? Is D'Orio even back next year ?

D'Orio is signed and the Penguins don't have much in the way of goaltending depth so there's a good chance he's not back next season. Cote-Cazenave would be the guy I would target if they want to bring in a 20 YO goalie.
