I don't know what the prices are, but there are two hotels just a short distance away from the Avenir center. The Crowne Plaza is just across the Highfield St intersection, and just a one minute walk up Highfield Street is the V Hotel & Suites (formerly the Colonial Inn). The V is likely cheaper but I can't comment on its quality. I believe it was recently renovated.
Further east down Main Street there are more hotels ... Delta Beausejour (is it still Delta ?), Residence Inn, The Rodd Parkhouse ... all within about a 12 min walk of the Avenir Center.
You may find a few Bed & Breakfasts in the downtown area but I can't vouch for them.

I stayed at the V a couple of year back...I got it on hotwire so it wasnt expensive. Its a perfect location to stay at and go to the Avenir Center. But it was fine quality for a nights stay and we had no complaints.
Like jimmy said air bnb might be your best option if you're trying to do it as cheaply as possible. Especially where you need 2 rooms. I'd say that you'll get more bang for your buck with an air bnb for group of 4 then you would needing 2 hotel rooms.

AirBnB might be a good option also Just make sure you don't throw any chairs over the balcony if you go that route

Does anyone know what the C'mon inn is like I'm looking at that one pretty good rates even in the off-season it's 3-4 mins from the Avenier Center. And I'd appreciate suggestions of things to do in Moncton if I get there a few hours before the game? What are the prices like on food at the rink? are they just as expensive as Halifax. I hear beer is 12$ not that I care don't like beer.

Not sure about the c’mon inn but , food is expensive as is beer and wine , beer is $ 9.75 for a tall boy can , draught 16 oz is $ 9.00. If you brought skates you can skate in front of the avenir centre for free, probably not a lot of events going on except at the avenir center as it is a stat holiday.

Most people that live in Moncton and area don't know very much about our hotels because we don't normally stay in them. I could tell you more about Halifax hotels than I could Moncton's.
