As a rock fan I just don't get how certain acts can come here and sell out in front of huge audiences and never come back again yet they book Luke Bryan in Moncton a year after he's at Cavendish. Tom Petty played in this region once in his entire career. Metallica is another that we should see more then once every 2 decades it seems like. Pearl Jam should have the East Coast as a staple on every Canadian tour. Especially with the potential sites we have now. Frustrating for those of us liking that genre. Hope the country fans enjoy though. I think part of it is the promoter. Whitecap entertainment seems to be bringing all the major events lately and they are highly country focused. in the next 6 months they are bringing Old Dominion (May), CBMF (July) , Luke Bryan (August), Dallas Smith & Dean Brody (Sept). Rock is such a hit or miss genre on the east coast. A guy like Jack White who can headline Coachella or Osheaga only sold around 2000 tickets in venues that were needing over 5000 for the promoter to break even. On the other hand Def Leopard sold out Avenir Centre in 1 day. The City of Moncton just doesn't seem to have good contacts/relationships to try and bring some of the major rock acts here that would fill the hill like the ones you mentioned. SMG has all those contacts but they have nothing to do with the hill and would be almost working in competition with the city.

I see that as a problem for attendance. He was just here in Cavendish last year. I expect that many people will skip this show because of that ... "been there done that". He sold out CBMF Sunday last year, so there's definitely a huge demand for him. I think for some people CMBF is not realistic to attend. There's too few accomodations available in the area, and costs get very high when you factor in a weekend pass $200+, accomodations (even camping is $400 for the weekend), gas, bridge tolls. The shuttle from Charlottetown is $60 for the day. Its almost impossible to try and just attend a one day show over there unless you live in the area. He also played a Sunday night where some people may not have been able to travel and get the Monday off. It will play a factor for sure, but I think you'll see a good crowd of local people who can experience a big concert for $150 that couldn't justify the CBMF experience. I also expect lots of people from Halifax, SJ, freddy etc who are closer to Moncton. I don't think you need to have 100K on the hill to make it successful. The number they are looking for is probably between 30-40K. The CBMF lineup is pretty weak this year, some people likely passed on it since the major artists have already been there. This show has more competition with some of the weekend shows at Darlings Waterfront in Bangor that people already booked & spent their money. Appears to be priced really well for Moncton. That will only help ticket sales.

I had to go go Ontario to see Pearl Jam but it was worth every dollar. Big issue with them is they keep ticket sales in house so these big ticket companies hate them. Foo Fighters on Magnetic Hill would be epic.

Hands down the best country performances I seen last July at Cavendish. Plus he’s seems like a humble down to earth guy can’t wait for August 10 I see that as a problem for attendance. He was just here in Cavendish last year. I expect that many people will skip this show because of that ... "been there done that". One of the major differences is that last year was a one-off show , where this is part of a major Tour throughout North America. Instead of dropping in and performing, audiences will see the entire setup for this tour , same as any major Stadium across America . I believe TORONTO maybe the closest Canadian date .
