Rookie of the Year

Jordan Spence was awarded Defensive Rookie of the year a few weeks ago, while Hendrix Lapierre was awarded Offensive Rookie of the Year. Last night at the Golden Puck Awards, Spence was declared the Rookie of the Year, and was on the Rookie All Star team.

I'd like to see the Q change these awards up a little. They should have an award for Top 16 YO Rookie, and one for Top 17 YO rookie (Imports included) ... and 18 YO should not be in the running for rookie of the year. Maybe add a Top Import player award as well.

Was Lafrenierre really the MVP ? I think he was certainly in the running but not sure I'd agree that he is the top player in the Q.

Mario Pouliot gets both Head Coach and GM of the year. How much work did he actually do as GM to build that team ? A lot of the leg work was done before he arrived. It always seems to be about winning and not about somebody actually doing some great work to build a team. Or a Coach ... the GM hands you a loaded team and you yell "Change 'em up" every 45 seconds. For me its the Coach that has a team that faces a ton of adversity and still manages to finish high up in the standings.
