Well the Sea Dogs pick 6th in todays CHL Import draft. Starts at 12 AST.
Do we see a forward or a D-Man?
Should be interesting to see what happens.

Looks like we have our top 4 for the future:
Villeneuve-Poirier DesRoches-Lehmus
That said, I can't find much on Lehmus other than his eliteprospects page.

Well he knows Saint John - he played here with team Finland at last years U-17.

@finjrhockey
.@sjseadogs select Joona Lehmus with the 6th overall pick in the CHL Import Draft. A smooth-skating and agile defenseman who moves the puck well, Lehmus was one of the top defensemen in the U18 league with Tappara last season

The Saint John Sea Dogs selected 17-year-old Finnish defenceman Joona Lehmus on Thursday in the CHL Import Draft.
A native of Lempaala, Finland, Lehmus played the 2018-19 season with the Tappara U18 Program registering three goals and 17 assists in 20 games.
Sea Dogs Assistant General Manager & Head Scout Anthony Stella believes Joona’s skating and offence will be a huge asset to the Sea Dogs. “Joona has elite level skating and mobility combined with dynamic offensive ability. He plays the game with confidence and his style will fit in well with our D group.”
This will be Joona’s return to the Port City after visiting Saint John and Quispamsis during the 2018 World U-17 Hockey Challenge as part of Team Finland last November. Lehmus was a standout player on route to a silver medal finish for Team Finland.
“I am looking forward to playing in Saint John and improving my game while helping the team win,” said Joona. “I know the city a little from having played in the Under-17 Challenge last season. I think it’s a great hockey city.”
The Finnish defender will join returning Sea Dog and newly drafted Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Maxim Cajkovic as the second import player on this year’s roster. Last year’s 61st overall selection in the CHL Import Draft Filip Prikryl returned to his native Czech Republic in the off-season after signing with HC Plzen of the Czech Extraliga.
"We are pleased to welcome Joona back to Saint John,” said Sea Dogs President & General Manager Trevor Georgie. “He was here for the U17s last year and is very familiar with the city. We spoke to him this morning and he told us how excited he is to be a Sea Dog. He is looking forward to joining our young, talented group and meeting his teammates."
Lehmus is only the second ever Finnish player to be drafted to the Sea Dogs following Oliver Felixson 25th overall in the 2015 CHL Import Draft.

"dynamic offensive ability" 135 games listed on eliteprospects and a total of 7 goals He must have some hidden potential that Dixon will most certainly tap into... On a serious note I am a bit surprised that they didn’t pick a guy who is at least on the NHL draft radar given the high selection that Saint John had. He could very well have been plan B. Hopefully this pick pans out.... looking forward to seeing Joona Lehmus in action this August.

Not that it matters but I found this a bit amusing.
"I know the city a little from having played in the Under-17 Challenge last season."
2 paragraphs later.....
"He was here for the U17s last year and is very familiar with the city."

There is not a lot of hype around this guy. Maybe that’s a good thing. Hopefully he can develop into a real good top 4 d man for us. It sure would be nice to not have to go out and trade away a bunch of assets in a couple of years looking for a top d man and already have our top 4 or 5 guys already in place when we are contending.

He seems to have spent most of his time playing above his age group so that's a pretty good sign. He was playing U-18 since he was 15 and even spent almost half of his 16 year old season playing U-20. The time he did spend playing U-18 he was a point a game player. He didn't get many points playing U-20 but still spent a lot of time there so hopefully that means he's very solid defensively. Of course I have no idea what the qualify of these leagues are, but as a country Finland has been doing quite well internationally lately.
If nothing else this appears to have been a safe pick after Georgie did a lot of swinging for the fences in the midget draft. It sounds like he's certain to come and maybe the fact that he's not really on NHL scouts' radars yet is part of the reason he wants to come to the CHL. Salda went undrafted in his first year of eligibility and wasn't on anyone's radar either until he came and played here for a year.

I remember around the end of last season Georgie was quoted saying that they would be looking to take a forward with the high Import pick. I'm thinking 1 of 2 things must have happened.
1 - They had a specific guy lined up who happened to be a forward but that plan fell through.
2 - This was before the draft lottery (I can't remember if it was or not) and the plan at the time was to take a D-man (Whynot?) with the 4th or 5th pick which would have made things pretty young but crowded on D.
