I would keep NDP as C and give Guay the A. NDP was good enough last year so don't demote him. Agree on J. Poirier but would give the third A to W.Villeneuve.

Wasn’t it Boucher before Christmas, and Campoli after Christmas? Nicolas Guay was Captain of the Drummondville Voltigeurs as an 18 year old and served in that capacity for two seasons. He scored 40 goals and 87 points last season, all that being enough to earn a rookie tryout with the Montreal Canadiens. On top of that, he agree to come to Saint John with a huge stable of skilled but inexperienced youngsters as a 20. Sounds like the easy choice for C to me.

I agree Guay should get the C. I have a feeling Deakin Poot will not be with the team long if they can find a good 20 year old D man. He will have an A until that happens.
C - Guay A - NDP A - Poirier A - Villeneuve

I don't believe he ever wore an "A" or a "C" last year. Although I'm not sure why he didn't wear any "A" in the 2nd half of last season since there were only 2 (Gagne and W. Poirier). I agree that Guay seems like the obvious choice but Deakin-Poot wouldn't be a terrible one if that's the way they want to go. I believe those 2 are the only easy choices. Our lack of 18 and 19 year old veterans and a goalie using the 3rd 20-year old spot doesn't make for many obvious choices. I could see them rotating the other 2 "A"s.

I agree with Berner on this one, although what goes on behind the scenes can also dictate this sort of thing. If most of the young guys are leaning on someone else for guidance and leadership, then that person should be the captain. I think that will end up being Guay though. He's a proven top end guy at this level and he captained a very good Drummondville team over a lot of other big names.

Any mention of the alternates? No mention of the assistants in the news release. They said he was introduced at the STH BBQ. I am not sure it they mentioned the assistants there.
