Game 2 of the young season for both teams. The Cats won in Ot on the island and the Dogs beat Halifax in their first games last night.
Patenaude the start? Should be.

Sea Dogs up 3-2 after 2. Little better game than yesterday. Dogs kill off a 5 min major to White by scoring a short handed goal and containing the Cats.
Bring on the third.

Another win for the kids, looking good so far. Goals by William Villeneuve, Josh Lawrence, Nicolas Guay and Joshua Roy in the 4-3 win.

Looking forward to see the James White major. The referee who called it actually had his head turned away from the play

The TV announcers said that White's shoulder got his upper chest. The game wasn't in high def so it on Eastlink so it was hard to tell.

Looking forward to see the James White major. The referee who called it actually had his head turned away from the play Right around 2:00. Seems like a reasonable enough call to me. I'm not sure if it is worthy of a suspension though. We'll see.

Looking forward to see the James White major. The referee who called it actually had his head turned away from the play It did not look like a major penalty and game misconduct should have been called. The Hudson tripping call looked much more dangerous. Stairs benefited the most from the White Major as he moved to the top line with Guay and Lawrence.

I've seen less get called and I've seen worse go uncalled, so whatever. Refs don't have the benefit of replay.

I don't think there will be a suspension since I don't believe he was targetting the head. But the player was injured on the play so you never know. Either way I can see Stairs staying on that line, at least for a bit. I thought he looked pretty good and he and Lawrence obviously know each other quite well.

I would say this was a successful weekend for the boys. I'm not planning the parade just yet considering both Halifax and Moncton were missing some good players. Some of the kids looked very good and Bouthillier was very good.

Definitely don't go planning any parades but it was nice to take both games regardless of the situation and both opponents missing key players, especially considering it took us until game #9 last year to pick up win #2.

We're 12.5% of the way to last years point total after the first weekend!

We're 12.5% of the way to last years point total after the first weekend! And yet we only have 1 more point than we did after the first 2 games last season against the same 2 teams. Still hard to argue that this past weekend was a success. Points against those 2 teams won't come easy this year so it was good to grab 4 while they were vulnerable.

I’d argue that a positive start regardless of the other teams was a huge need for these kids that probably still have crappy memories of last year still fresh in their minds!

I will say this - Saint John looked better than I expected them to. William Villeneuve looks like he's taken a huge step forward, same with Desroches, Bouthillier looks solid and there's 3 dangerous lines, Although I do think they could use another good winger. White had a pretty decent outing but, not sold on him playing up with Guay and Lawrence.
As Roy, Drover and Stairs get comfortable in the league this offense should click along pretty well.
