Deserves 10 +. Skated from out side the blue line and did not ease up. Charging , boarding, headshot, take your choice. that's how you look when you just put someone in the hospital

I'm not that familiar with the roster but they have to have guys dressed to help look after these young guys.

Exactly why Titan went out and got Element, he can kill penalties, play 1-2 line power play and can take care of business. Already a difference this year with teams taking advantage of 16-17 year olds

Vander Voet did drop his gloves but the linesmen broke it up right away.

I seen 2 hits that’s were from behind but nothing big suspension worthy the VD player maybe gets 3 games? On another note I hate when players showboat when they score a goal that’s Burns kid seems like quite the hot dog. I remember Sprong used to act like that and it drove me crazy Not shown in this video is that the player was taken off on a stretcher. Whether anyone agrees or disagrees the extent of an injury has always been taken into account when handing out suspensions. Agree about Burns' celebrations, especially the first one. I'll never have a problem with passionate celebrations but some stuff guys do is just goofy looking. But there are guys in the NHL who do this and these kids look up to those guys so no surprise that a few of them will imitate them.

Posted 1 hr ago the Sea Dogs.
During last night's game Sea Dogs defenceman Kale McCallum left the ice under the supervision of medical staff after receiving a dangerous hit in the second period.
Kale was released from hospital today and is at home resting. All of us here at the Sea Dogs are with Kale and his family as he recovers to good health. Respectfully, no additional information is available at this time.

I seen 2 hits that’s were from behind but nothing big suspension worthy the VD player maybe gets 3 games? Yeah, like most of the comments I’ve seen by anyone who doesn’t support the Dogs is that this hit is absolutely fine. Exactly what you’re taught to do as a forechecker and exactly what you’re not supposed to do as a defender. Unfortunately, the result was bad and the onus is still on the hitter. But “charging, targeting the head”, no. He stops skating at the circle and is just going to make a regular body check on the guy until he turned, causing the ugly result, so that can’t be. In today’s day and age though, the Q will overreact and assess a larger than deserved suspension for a fast play that ended poorly, so the 10+ games thing may not be far off. Not really suspension worthy. And to those that think he’s an A-hole for laughing, that’s kind of the culture of hockey. These kids have all grown up playing at the highest level, hitting at the highest level, skating, etc. He’s probably done this play 1,000 different times on several different defensemen. And, like he did, this D-man pretty much created this bad result all by himself. So yeah, a kind of frustration laugh as you go to the penalty box for something the defenseman did to himself, I’d laugh too. Shitty luck for Hoyt, he didn’t do much wrong. If you have trouble understanding that, congratulations you probably have never played hockey. There’s lots of you on here making it painfully obvious by lots of the comments on this board :/

In fact it’s the way hockey players are taught. - McCallum caused the damage, not Hoyt. - Any suspension by the league is an over-reaction. - Hoyt laughing after knocking McCallum unconscious in a pool of his own blood is not only appropriate, but quite normal - in fact it would have been strange had he NOT found humour here. - McCallum created the result all by himself. - Anyone who disagrees with this viewpoint never played hockey. You wouldn’t happen to be a relative of Peyton Hoyt, would you?

The only real problem with throwing this hit is that Cale turns away from it at the very last millisecond. Look how close Hoyt is, who is actually in front of Cale, and he was STILL facing forward. If Cale braces for the hit and absorbs it, they probably both skate away from it like it was routine play. I don't know Hoyt's reputation, but tough to throw the book at him for this one. But of course, injury often plays a part.
