Well after 40 min with 10 shots and 3 goals against on 11 shots and down 3-1 is it too early to put these quotes up from the Cape Breton Game?
Hockey1981
Hopefully it’ll be a wake up call for everyone

Why is your first reaction to every bad game to go in full panic mode? They just added several players and are getting used to play each other. A bad game can happen. No team has ever gone 68-0.

I don’t see this as any kind of trend though. The poor efforts have been few and far between this season.
I’m confident you’ll see a different result when they meet again next Sunday.

It’s just one of those nights they have didn’t have “it”. I can only imagine the reaction this guy had when Canada got smoked by Russia.
I want this to come together and be an unstoppable machine more than anyone but..... are you watching what I am watching?
Are any of you seriously waving the Pom Pom being positive watching this right now? It is a mess out there, no flow, no sustained pressure, no momentum...
Guess what!? Cape Breton added 4 players at the deadline and Chicoutimi added like 7 and both are destroying opponents or at least winning their games handily as they “transition” with New players but the cats look completely disorganized.....
I hope they turn this game around but it looks terrible out there after 40 min. Man I wish Torchetti had just done his job, cause the boys were all bought in and we never took a night off ( yes we lost) but it never felt like the intensity, effort and push wasn’t there like lately.

Be patient.

They just need some Maximum Bond Krazy Glue Gel. Be patient. I wish they could be patient, but ultimately it will be these ‘gelling’ games that screw us in the standings come mid March. We have to cash in on 90+% of our games down the stretch. We have teams like Cape Breton and Chicoutimi ( even Rimouski) continuing to win while we struggle to gel and the teams get closer and closer in the standings or in Chicoutimi sake pull away

I am hoping that the flu, or something similar, is going through the team right now...otherwise, I am a bit concerned. Still not going to give up just yet, but tomorrow could be scary.

Coach Lacroix gets a free pass for this one. But this much talent should win even on nights off

Let's talk after the Cape Breton game. Two games isn't a trend. If the effort against CB is poor then it will definitely be starting to look like a trend.
I don't blame you in the least for being upset about tonight though. I'm not happy either. The effort level was beyond pathetic. No other way to put it.
The whole "gelling and coming together" thing is a big load of hockey cliche BS for the most part. Chicoutimi is clearly having no problem "gelling". It shouldn't be an issue at all when you're playing a team of lesser skill like BC. They came to work and the Cats looked like they had zero interest in competing. It was awful.
Big game against CB coming up - hate saying this in January, but it's basically a must win if the Cats want to keep any chance of 1st in the East alive. Lose and 1st place in the division is all of a sudden in jeopardy which should never have been the case considering the lead they built up.

The talent is obviously there. Superstar players don't just forget how to play hockey. Work ethic on the other hand can be lost. Last night the Daoust-Langlois-L'Heureux line was our best line. They carried possession in the Drakkar zone and gave 110%.
From the other top 9, Fortier & Hudson. Hudson was a human wrecking ball, hitting everything that moved.
The remaining 7 just stick checked and tried fancy plays. They weren't skating and looked like most have said...disinterested.
The defence IMO needs to tighten up. Too many odd man rushes and free passes to the net.
We aren't getting to the dirty areas of the rink. No net front presence. This was evidenced by going 50 minutes with ZERO power plays.
I think the cream will eventually rise, because there's too much talent on this team. Lacroix just needs to get the big guns to put their work boots on and play hard, skate hard and go to the hard areas of the ice.
Looking forward to to ight, with the full lineup and revenge on their minds. Last night should have been a turning point.
Hopefully the put the effort in....win or lose.
Chemistry will come, Lacroix just needs to find the right mix, and usually they find it in practice ...not during games.
On the point about Chicoutomi gelling already...well they have had their players longer than us. , Harvey Pinard, Bibeau, etc have had extra time with them. Our guys have been together for what 1-2 games and a handful of practices, plus a brand new coach.
Give it time, this is the best forward group Moncton has arguably ever had. The next few games should prove that.

Sometimes when you have a team full of superstars they think they’re the Harlem globetrotters and teams that are full of hard workers can beat them. I remember the year Hulton loaded up Spring Chlapik Dostie Beauchemin Kielly Marsh Briesbois Neil Meloche etc. They were fun to watch but when things got tough and a defensive armada shut them down they couldn’t do anything. Hopefully for your guys sake that doesent happen to you enjoy the ride fans it should be fun.
