Good tempo, tons of intensity and animosity in that first period. Cape Breton’s game plan was clearly to come in and try to intimidate, push hard physically but lead to a lot of penalties. The Francis after the whistle slash seems to have really calmed down the physical/ after whistle scrums. Nice to have a game with some emotion in it for sure.
Should have added Beer League Baker is really trying hard out there to get McKenna to bite/ off his game. Was nice to see Groulx lay him out at the end of the first then have a chirp at each other!!

Game has a playoff feel for sure very entertaining. Even though shots aren’t close still feel like Cape Breton is one shot away from being back in it. Rodrigue definitely has rust, not playing in like 30 days is like worse than making team Canada to sit and watch. Hopefully can get his timing back and such!

Should but let’s see if they can do it again against an inferior opponent Yup much better effort, let’s see some consistency though, back to back vs Saint John who beat Baie Comeau and was demolished by the Eagles back to back.

Moncton played well , it will take time for the new lines to gel but saw lots of potential, we definitely have speed , CB sure has a big team and tried to push Moncton around. Was very impressed with McIsaac, threw some big hits and made smart plays in his own zone , and put lots of pucks to the net when other Moncton defenceman were looking to make the nice play, other teams will definitely keep their heads up when he is on the ice. Groulx is deadly on face offs and likes the physical play, scored a beauty on the PP another great addition. Fortier also looked good , lots of speed and can stick handle in traffic , looking forward to the playoffs. Leonard looked ok from what I saw 4 th line didn’t get much ice time , was out there pushing back when CB was trying to intimidate the Cats.
It did feel like a playoff game as Doublesnipers posted , really looking forward to the Rimouski game .

He is clearly our #3 Dman at this point with Anderson and Spence ahead of him. Spence is quickly becoming the most mobile Dman in the Q.

Way better game by the Cats! Pretty much everyone was hustling and working hard, or at least much harder than last game.
A few takeaways from the game.
- After the first I noticed Lacroix was going with: Pelletier-Khovanov-McKenna Cyr-Groulx-Fortier L'Heureux-Hudson-Daoust (Our best line 2 nights in a row) Foreman-Stewart-Leonard
Once Desnoyers comes back I'd assume he replaces Daoust on the 3rd line.
- McIsaac is a beast. He clearly showed why he has been part of Team Canada's WJC 2 years in a row. Our best D all night and even rocked a few guys. (Didn't realize that was part of his game)
-Something I can't overlook is Khovanovs composure during this game. He was super disciplined and took 0 penalties in a game that had numerous post whistle scrums and alot of chirping/physicality.
Excited to see them after a week off and some good practices.

Much better game yesterday. The effort was there right from the start.
I think CB did the Cats a favour by playing a chippy, hyper aggressive style of game. May have helped bring the team together a little bit quicker.

I didn't see the same thing from McIsaac that you did. Anderson and Spence were noticeably better than he was. DeJong and Stewart also played strong games ... McIsaac looked like a guy that wasn't sure about what he was doing, but did deliver some heavy hits. McIsaac will adapt in a few weeks and we'll revisit this. I honestly don't think that there is a better Dman in the Q right now than Spence ... he controls the game when he is out there. I haven't seen all Q dmen so let me qualify that and say I haven't seen anybody come into Moncton this season as good as Spence. Anderson is also a top D in the Q.

I couldn't figure out if your first post listing him as Dman #3 on the depth chart was serious or not....this post clarifies that nicely. No matter, whether he's 1st or 3rd, still very happy to see him in a Cats uniform!!!!

Not defending McIsaac but he had less ice time 2nd pairing , no points ,didn’t play with the top lines as much as Spence, had 3 big hits and was a team best +2 , the few shifts he had with the puck in CB end he was shooting at the net , he played a great 1st game in my opinion , not that I don’t think Spence is a very good defenceman , with McIsaac players will have to keep their heads up , our D just got tougher

Perhaps he will be ... and I did say that in a few weeks my view may change, as he did look uncertain out there at times in just his first game.
