Fingers crossed that Trevor can sign at least one of Cam MacDonald (likely 50/50), Jack Williams (maybe 10% or less) or Anthony Cliche (possibly less likely than Williams).
And, per Trevor's comments in Monday Night Mic'd a couple of weeks ago, we can expect the Sea Dogs to add a veteran goaltender soon. There's been a lot of chatter about Alexis Gravel. But guys like Colten Ellis, Creed Jones, C-A Pagliarulo and Lucas Fitzpatrick may also be targeted.
While I may miss a piece, the final deal around Nic Guay looks something like; From Saint John: C-A Dumont RD_1 2020 (#10) RD_3 2020 (BAT) RD_3 2021 RD_7 2021
To Saint John Nic Guay (half season) Jeff Durocher (half season) Chris Innis (two seasons, hopefully) RD_2 2020 (#34).
I consider that to be excellent asset management. Also, some fans may question giving two seconds round draft choices for Nicholas Girouard ... but that, in effect, is a final piece of the Joe Veleno trade. I'm more than pleased with the end results of that deal.

If we trade 3 for a player straight up, it would have to be someone on the level of Xavier Simoneau or Hendrix Lapierre (with protection against injuries given his history). Anything short of that calibre of player and I wouldn't move the pick.
I don't think we would move back until the pick is on the clock, because who is available could drastically change what we want to do with the pick.
The other possibility would be to sell it outright. Trading it for future picks could help with the next cycle, which would be a bonus, but the payment has to reflect that any future pick is going to be an unknown (when compared to a 3rd overall pick).
The league has introduced compensation for 2nd rounders, so don't be surprised if Evan Nause goes off the board right before one of our 2nd rounders if no one has an agreement to try to block us (like VDO did last year).
Like Trevor said, this is the draft to start filling the pipeline back up, since our AP pool is dwindling rapidly. I'd like to see get a project D in either the 2nd or 3rd that can either play MHL (if he's in Atlantic Canada) or big minutes in midget if Quebec, transition to 7th D next year, and be able to step into our top 6 in 2 years. If he would come, I'd have no problem with drafting Evan Nause.

If there’s not one guy high enough on the want list to either draft or a guy to trade for with that 3rd overall pick, I think SNB would be well served to find a buyer for that pick. Finding a team to trade down with (Drum, Victo, Ryn, Cb, Bat, Hali...) getting a later first round pick while adding a player to help this year and maybe next and depending on the player/pick maybe add another pick. They could come out of that with a solid player to fill a role, still pick up some first round talent and maybe another draft (youth they could have in the pipeline or to help buy at Christmas).

Our team is starting to take shape and is looking rather good.
Burns-Lawrence-girouard
A.Macdonald-Roy-cajkovic
C.MacDonald-Reynolds- Stairs
Drover-Savoie-Gould
Badalementi,Vandervoet
And whoever we draft at 3,15 and Euro draft our forward group is really deep now not much space available this year.
We think we’re deep up front we’ll let’s look at the D and we’re even deeper .
Villeneuve Poirier
Desroches innis
Mccullum lehmus ( if he comes back , I didn’t mind his game at all and felt he improved big time from the start of the year )
Then we have sibley and spadafore
And again this all depends on who we take in the drafts or if we can get cliche to show up.
In nets we need a bit of help with pateneude and savoie being the two guys.
Very interesting times and very intrigued what’ our front office will do to shore up what little holes we have. I don’t care what anybody says Georgie and Stella are easily doing the best job of assembling a team out of anybody we have had here. We will see TG running an NHL team in the future.

Fans just need to get over it and the GM's of their teams need to draft these players and trade them if they can't sign them.
Examples last year Whynot and Plandowski

Fans just need to get over it and the GM's of their teams need to draft these players and trade them if they can't sign them. Examples last year Whynot and Plandowski Exactly. It's the Quebec media that's the biggest whiner of all about all this. Some of them are embarrassments to their industry with their level of bias about this stuff. And there was NEVER this level of cynicism about the process when Patrick Roy was reaching for every American he could find. Or when Gatineau basically had its own pipeline into Northern Ontario. I've said it for the longest time: What more evidence do people need that the system works other then the list of champions over the last 20 years? Doesn't Bathurst have more league championships then Quebec does? Wasn't Rouyn the most recent "dynasty" to most people? Or does SJ's 2017 win mean so much more then 2016 and 2018 for some reason? The sour grapes and obsession certain people in Quebec have with all this is them ruining the product with their attitude more then SJ is ruining anything by doing things the same way teams have for the 20+ years i've been paying attention.

Jeff Marek @jeffmarek · 17m CHL note - Cam MacDonald has de-committed from Boston College and has signed with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. No official announcement yet but it's done.

Jeff Marek @jeffmarek · 17m CHL note - Cam MacDonald has de-committed from Boston College and has signed with the Saint John Sea Dogs of the QMJHL. No official announcement yet but it's done. Quebec media going to go spin themselves into a tornado as these kids say covid is a factor in their decisions. QMJHL fans should be happy to see elite local players choose the elite local route for their hockey development. For every Cam MacDonald in Saint John is a top 10 pick like Drover now looking for some ice time. Or a kid picked in round 4 that is a late bloomer that might get pushed to another organization to make room for a player like this. I honestly believe the more elite players you have the more your overall league talent level is raised. And a Moncton fan might scoff at that logic considering they're entering a rebuild (along with my own team) but the jealous and bitter slant coming out of the province of Quebec makes it pretty clear where the sport and league are headed in that province if they don't start to change their ways.

"According to my information, Nause refused an Omaha scholarship a few weeks ago in the NCAA. He targeted 2 cities in the Maritimes. Should be selected again in the first round tomorrow."
Gotta figure it's Saint John and Halifax
